Here's an interesting cover postmarked Dec 25, 1928 from Montreal. There is a curious cinderella reverse printed in green apparently for the SPS Club. The label resembles a frame of movie film and the cover is addressed to Miss Norma Talmadge, c/o United Artists Studios, Hollywood. Miss Talmadge was a well-know silent movie star. A google search for similar SPS Club stamps identified a short note by Regis Hoffman from the October 1999 issue of The American Revenuer, where he describes three further covers bearing similar SPS Club stamps (printed in green or red). One cover postmarked 1929 from Northern Ireland is addressed to Gilbert Rolands at United Artists Studios, a second is postmarked 1928 from Singapore and is addressed to Constance Talmadge at United Artists Studios, and the third is postmarked 1928 from India and is addressed to Milton Sills, at First National Studios. It would appear that the SPS Club was some sort of Hollywood star fan club.
Has anyone else seen these stamps, or has further information on their origin, and what SPS stands for?

It seems the first cancel missed the mark, so they added the second a couple hours later.
Nowadays, more & more, they don't even bother.
