As I have had the chance to visit yours once already, I know that it is even more impressive in real life, seeing all of those books on the shelves and knowing that they are all full of stamps! I have also been impressed with posts by Jon ( blaamand) and Jim ( jimwentzell) on the Whatcha Been Stamping? thread on their stamp rooms. At the moment, I don't have much to show aside from my kitchen table!!

Great space. I am now suffering from a major case of « stamp room envy ». david This large room with the shelving was a top selling point for me when we were house-hunting. On top of that, the owners had a few stamp holdings left over from a departed relative which they kindly left in one of the drawers as a sweetener. This included the Marseille to Alger cover I showed in thestampforum.boards.net/post/64478/thread .

Such is life. Nice rooms though we have seen so far. Londonbus1.....at least I am not homeless.

I am in the same boat as you, Londonbus1! My den with a pile of stuff & a desk that I bought when I was in Germany in the mid 80's! If I ever have the chance to buy a house, it will have a dedicated stamp room. But I am not holding my breath!

I consider myself lucky I grabbed a six by eight foot closet/room for my stamps , a twelve by twelve room for my music, and a twenty five by thirty five garage for my tools. The stamp room will never be big enough for true organizing but it is my space and I can close the door.

firstfrog2013 - that's magic! Same goes for my (new) stamp room, it could have offered more space - a bigger desk, etc - but the main thing is that it's my space - my 'stamp cave'. I've now custom-made the largest desk I could possibly squeeze into the room. When my brother arrives for a stamp-session, the foldable flap at the door-end can be raised to utilize the 'dead-space' behind the door to the maxium...thank you for that brilliant idea, barbu . It also has the added benefit, that we need to maintain BMI below 25 to be able to get in and out of the room when the flap is in use

Jon, I can´t wait to come and mess up the place Yeah! And it also has the benefit that when we have the white wine index right, we will (hopefully) realize that we will be "locked up", until sober enough to dear passing that tiny slot out of the room again.... All excuses possible should be utilized to maximize the time in that perfect "philatorium" of yours!

Hahaha renden! Jon was actually considering putting in a small frigo for that! But it was down prioritized, giving more space for stamp-stuff organizers. Anyhow - we will never have time to put the bottles back into the could..

But WOW, I am impressed sherro, that you still are capable to focus on the important thing with such a breathtaking view! But I see you have E-Bay up - for stamps I take it?? Good!! And you have already, by showing that perfect Bosnia SOTN postmark earlier, convinced me you are focused:)

Back in 1976 in the barracks of CFB Summerside in Prince Edward Island, this was my stamp room, living room, den, bedroom etc etc etc. You can tell it was partly stamp room from the posters on the wall! I didn't do anything to the photo to show just how lousy a photographer I was! I had to move my stereo get-up c/w 8-track (!) so I could work on my stamps! I just twigged on uploading this photo after seeing hrdoktorx's room with a stamp poster prominently noted!

I just twigged on uploading this photo after seeing hrdoktorx 's room with a stamp poster prominently noted! I love the Montreal 1976 stamp posters! My parents tell me they took me to see some of the Games events back then, but I was too young to remember any of it. My own poster is a reproduction of a Canadian Air Mail cover, from the first airmail service from Winnipeg to Berens River. It was a gift from my wife. Her way of saying she was OK with the principle of a stamp room (this was four moves ago!).

Xavier hrdoktorx I remember the 1976 Olympics in Montreal........a big expenditure for Montreal via Maire Drapeau (Drapeau was elected mayor of Montreal at the time and prior).......that year marked the beginning of my practice so I missed the Games live. !....25 at the time !!...a young puppy René

Well, that was before she had me go to a shrink for treating my "stamp addiction". No kidding! She felt I was spending too much on stamps. To be fair, she wasn't wrong. The shrink did help me rein in the spending somewhat, though probably not as much as my wife would have liked. This was also helpful in other aspects of my life, mostly in how to manage my research team of ~15 people at the time. But I stopped going when the shrink (a woman, mind you!) seriously suggested I should consider taking on a mistress. Only in France...

Hahaha. I absolutely believe you on the psychologist request. That's a good sign of an enthusiastic stamp collector!! My wife has requested the same several times, but can't say I followed her advise...
I wonder how taking up a mistress would help as part of a 'treatment'? Hilarious. Maybe if you take 10 mistresses, and they are helpful in organising your stamps 😊

Maybe if you take 10 mistresses, and they are helpful in organising your stamps 😊 Well, I had to follow my wife's advice, since it was that or divorce. And divorce would have meant losing a lot of money, hence less money for stamps! So my hands were tied. I think the shrink's point about a mistress was that it would move my focus away from the stamps. But it wouldn't have solved the issues with my wife, far from it, and usually mistresses expect you to spend money on them too!
