I am in the process of creating my own album pages and mounting stamps. With sometimes one issue or series to a page there can be a large area of blank space left so what I would like to do is mount a FDC, airmail cover, special event cover, etc. along with stamps.
Are corner mounts an acceptable manner to mount covers? Should the cover be placed in a sleeve and then in the corner mounts? Are stock pages fine for long term storage? What other methods do other members use?
All suggestions and comments welcome.
Thanks, erthur

Hello erthur.
I think this comes down to indiviual taste, and type of cover. Older delicate covers definately need careful storage but coin covers get a shoe box because they damage anything around them.
How many sets you put on a page is always an internal argument between space on the page and space on the shelf. I think it gets to a point when the shelf runs out and a compromise is made on less favoured sets.

erthur I would shy away from those photo corners I've seen discoloration from them after time.I've had good luck with larger size stamp mounts I use dollar store glue stick to adhere them to the page.It seems to hold well.My collection is accented by blocks on the pages so in the same vein.I'm usually a bit over the top and at most there are three different stamps per page. The majority of my early stuff is One per page(s).

erthur and firstfrog2013 I tend to agree with Frog on many disadvantages of corner mounts. Since pages move all the time, FDC or other covers are not well stabilized by corner mounts. I do not mix FDCs (or Covers) with stamp pages. I prefer to have them well protected in FDC albums. Uni-Safe if the product I use and am satisfied. I have a bunch of them. Good luck with your project ! René www.unitradeassoc.com/pdf/Chap-1%20Accessories%202012.pdf

I ended up buying this doo-dad from the local office supplies store. "Pritt on & off". It rolls out a narrow band of adhesive on a tape. It works pretty good & is easy to remove. It doesn't affect the cover at all.

Jerry
Nice info - Thanks
From an inventory perspective it is hard to know where your FDCs or Covers are if you do not have an organized system and Stamp Albums are not an organized "location" for covers. My opinion..... Ex: I am looking for Canada FDC Scott # 600 ($1 multi).......my inventory says: FD3.....so it is in a FDC album #3, well identified and takes me 1-2 min to find the cover - I already have the value etc. in inventory. I feel, if you do a proper inventory of your collection, you have to know where each piece..is.....!! You can print 1- indefinite covers, , calculate the valuation etc. etc. René

I prefer to have the covers mixed in with the stamps. Some were stuck on using that Pritt on & off chummy I bought. while others are in the plastic pages, where I can view front and back. I may go that route for the rest of the covers that I have. Canadian only though. I have too many from Luxembourg...

Hi Rene, how do you mean not ideal? Do you mean the albums or boxes. I keep all of my "special" cover collections (i.e., US Scott 929, US Scott C20, and Cicero, IL (my hometown collection)) in SuperSafe cover albums.
