To complement this wonderful series of stamps from the Aegean Islands under 1912 & later Italian rule: Rodi (Rhodes) Air Post Stamps 1935-1938 - Scott # C1a-C4a (series)The Italian Islands of the Aegean were a group of twelve major islands (the Dodecanese) in the southeastern Aegean Sea, which — together with the surrounding islets — were ruled by the Kingdom of Italy from 1912 to 1943 and the Italian Social Republic from 1943 to 1945. (part ref: Wiki) Thank you Nelson @falshung for this thread !!

A very impressive thread! These islands are not part of the focus of my collection, but I can contribute the following couple of stamps from Rhodes:

The last of Rodi - only one more island to go so hopefully not too boring Nelson, I have really been enjoying seeing these, and I am looking forward to the rest. I have a few of these myself, but nowhere near the level of completeness or the quality of the stamps or their images that you have shown. I know that centering is a major issue with these classic Italian stamps, and yours are excellent. You really did have an incredible collection, and you have done a masterful job on the images which you are now sharing with us. One of these days, after I have finished working full-time, I aspire to do something along the lines that you have done. I will need to begin by getting a good scanner and learning how to use it correctly, and then document the best of my collection. I have managed to acquire some pretty nice stamps I think, but I have not yet made the investment in a good scanner, and probably will not until after my time in France is over. Sorry for my digression there. The point is, I am really enjoying seeing the images from your collection, Nelson, and I hope you will continue to share everything that you feel like sharing. I just wanted to let you know that you have given me something to admire now and to aim for in the future.... thanks for that! -Chris

To complement this wonderful series of stamps from the Aegean Islands under 1912 & later Italian rule: Rodi (Rhodes) Air Post Stamps 1935-1938 - Scott # C1a-C4a (series)Thank you very much for this post, René. I have always liked this set very much! Below is a short set of three from my Dad's collection. These are the same underlying stamps as yours, but in 1944 they were overprinted and surcharged to make them airmail/semi-postal stamps, listed as from Italy / Aegean Islands / Rhodes, Sc CB1-CB3. I noticed that the CV for the 4th stamp in the overprinted set is about 10x that of any of the other three, so that is probably why he was missing that last one.
