1924 Arms of Panama Issue Scott 234-243This is one of my favorite Panama issues. And a close-up of the high value stamp.

I am not sure whether or not these are reprints. Panama Scott #2 Panama Scott #3 Edit: After reading the Scott catalog, it appears that a clear indication of a reprint is that the shields in the top corners are filled in. Hence, this purported Panama Scott #5 is actually a reprint because the shields are filled in. So is the Scott #3 perhaps.

This one is not in the Scott Catalog. It appears to be a provisional registration overprint (hand applied) on stamps overprinted for use in the city of Colon. The overprint was also used on letters to indicate registration service.

Another possible provisional overprint added by hand with pen and red ink.

Hi smauggie
At one time Panama was a department of Colombia. Therefore,
The block of 4 with the R overprint Barriga Panama 238 (Regular Issue 15) Date 1897 "R" in red or black (R = recomendado)
The 5c block of 4 Barriga only lists the overprint as A. R. Colon Colombia
or
Temprano AR in a circle
I haven't found the others yet. When I do I will post here.

Today, I purchased this 1920 Panama "Ship in Pedro Miguel Lock" stamp at my local stamp and coin store. I was lucky enough to find it because the only foreign country he has is Panama. Everything else is U.S. I paid 20 bucks for it and it's the oldest stamp I purchased. This stamp will go into my 20th century Cargo Ships, Ports, Seaways and Canals section. Scott - A39 #219 Dark Violet & Black

smauggie, One tiny detail I noticed between your 1924 Arms of Panama Issue and the 1920 stamp I posted. On your stamps, the portion below the border states American Bank Note Co. On mine, the initials of the company are within the border. I didn't realize that ABN Co was the world's premier designer, engraver and printer of stock and bond certificates, stamps, traveler's cheques and paper currency. Now known as ABCorp, they continue to provide cutting edge products and services as technology has progressed.

rod222,
From what I see on your Cinderellas/Phantasies, there are no signs of a manufacturing company or a credited artist. Yet, there is ABN Co on your revenue stamp. Maybe during that time period, one could tell a Cinderella from a real stamp based on the particulars I mentioned. Then again, I am taking a shot in the dark.

I am not aware of any Catalogue / link to Panama Revenues I'll edit my post

From 1900 to the 1940s at least, many of the South American countries had the same stamps produced by various printers. Some can be distiguished by the name of the printer at the bottom of the stamp, but others are not so easy. It's amazing to see how similar the engraved stamps are from different suppliers. Here's a Panama revenue stamp with a Perkins Bacon print on the left (my copy) and another supplier on the right (internet image). Spot the main engraving differences
