Hello everyone! I am pleased to have finally joined this board after intending to do so for many months. I am a full time dealer based in Saint John, NB. I specialize in Canada and British West Africa. My main reason for joining is a strong desire to share my philatelic knowledge through my weekly blog posts. I will be posting articles on the boards here and I am hoping to start discussion on the various stamp issues and I would be thrilled if this results in new information about undiscovered or otherwise undocumented varieties coming to light. Here I am a few years back in my former profession of Certified Public Accountant (well I still am one, but I don't practice anymore).
Thanks very much for having me

Yes, indeed, welcome to TSF, brixtonchrome ! Interesting site name.... anything on that which you can share? I admire your courage in giving up your conventional job and becoming a full-time professional philatelist. It is something I dreamed of doing, but never had the courage to leave science and engineering behind. Now retirement is catching up to me! Anyway, welcome, and I look forward to seeing some posts related to your blog! -Chris (aka Beryllium Guy )

This would let you get things started while you still have a stable income and transition as you retire.
It is very inexpensive to operate a web site, and even less so to just list stamps on ebay or hipstamps. Follow your passion.

Hi full-time-dealer-based-in-Saint-John-NB! Or would you rather we call you Brixton, or Brixtonchrome? Welcome to our philatelic forum, we love reading about (and viewing, of course) anything related to stamps. I've learned the more you write, as well as read, the more you learn! Mostly, it's from asking questions, in my case. Especially as I'm always curious about stamp stuff I don't know. There are many great threads; one about philatelic literature in our personal "libraries" (not the digital kind, I'm afraid) is here: thestampforum.boards.net/thread/1316/library--Jim Wentzell full-time collector in Marietta, Georgia, USA

brixtonchrome... Welcome aboard. I've been a fan of your blog writings (esp. Nigeria, but Canada posts are nice too) pretty from the beginning. Nice to see you are getting back to weekly writing schedule. -k-

Wow, just wow! I am touched by the warm welcome that has been extended here. I guess I'd better get to work. I'm thinking I will probably share my first post next week. I've got it written, but I'm tied up this week trying to get my business plan ready for presentation to Business Developement Bank of Canada.
To answer a few of your questions:
1. I came up with the name Brixton Chrome about 15 years ago - long before I left my job. I wanted a catchy sounding name that didn't have the word stamp in it, or philatelics, or my own name, as I wanted to develop a marketable brand. I liked the fact that Warren Buffet's company was called Berkshire-Hathaway and was influenced by that. I know, I know, that sounds horribly pretentious, but I actually do have a long term vision, which is to become one of the larger dealers out there and to really promote the hobby by writing as much as I can and getting it in front of as many non-collectors and collectors as possible. The detailed stuff is for you folks, but plenty of people out there could become stamp collectors if it presented properly. I've heard a lot of complaints over the years about the younger generations only being interested in their phones. But to me this just means that the key is to get beautiful stamps (early and modern) into scrollable, picture rich websites that kids can scroll through when they are bored and looking at their phones. That's all.
2. That brings me to my second point, which is that to execute my vision that I've had in my head for 40+ years, I cannot be part time. It just doesn't work, because there is so much that has to be done to achieve it. I've been at it for 3 years now and living in poverty, but now I know how the business works, and I know what I need to do going forward, which is why I have prepared a new business plan.
3. I'd be happy to show some British West Africa covers. I have over 50,000 covers from Nigeria, so if you tell me what areas or time periods you want to see, I will be happy to post either to this forum or in an e-mail (I believe I gave permission for the admin to share my e-mail).
4. My writing schedule has been pretty consistent for the past 3 years, except for the past few months, because I have been building my website, which is now finished, so it should be more consistent from February on. At the moment, I am writing one Canada post each week and I will resume Nigeria in a few weeks or so. I'm also going to be writing for the Canadian Philatelist starting next month. So I have a pretty full schedule.
My first article, which I will share next week will be my overview of the 1972-1978 Caricature Issue of Canada. I expect to be writing for about 6 months or so on this issue to cover all the detailed aspects. I just finished my year long series on the 1967-73 Centennial Issue, which numbered 59 posts and then just finished the commemoratives from 1967-1972, which has been about 12 posts or so.
So, thanks again!!

Welcome brixtonchrome to The Stamp Forum. I'm sorry I missed seeing your introduction. I've been busy with car and house work the past few weeks with little time to devote to philately. I've read your wonderful blogs on the penny reds, a topic dear to my heart.
I'd like to become proficient in plate identification and have assembled a good set of references but the one I really need and haven't been able to find is a high resolution source for the imprimaturs. I have the files that are readily available online but they are not distinct enough for my eyes to be able to make comparisons.
I'm attempting a complete plate collection with my initials RL. So far I have about 65 plated examples between plates 12 and 131.
It's wonderful to have you on board. I really look forward to your articles and expertise. Rob
