I did manage to take the time and have a look at the links. I do not have any of the variations that I could find with slight magnification. I was able to identify # 11 that I do have pp91 and A possible pp93. Definitely not from same sheet. Now on the search for an elusive pp 92 Again thanks for the link. David

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I have shared a few of my Nova Scotia covers and I thought you may like to see the individual stamps I have now. These are a marriage of my finds and my dads collection. For years I only had a forgery of the 1 penny. I added a genuine one last year. I have made a few auction runs at acquiring a 1 shilling but no luck yet. I have been more focused on covers with post marks from Queens County, Nova Scotia so have not looked to add better copies of the individual stamps except the 1 shilling. The 1 penny was the only individual stamp I have added to this page since the 1990's. With my travel wings clipped during the pandemic I have been a bit more aggressive with my bidding on better stamps I am missing.

renden I do have these New Brunswick stamps. Like you I am more focused on my home province so am not actively looking to add to my NB issues. Like my NS stuff, I have lost track of what I had found and what were in my dad's collection. Till recent years I built my collection by buying old collections and job lots at auction as opposed to buying singles.

I already posted a lot of New Brunswick stamps/proofs so PARDON me again !!!! ADMIN Do not want to clutter TSF so I will stop with scanning - I have them all (incl proofs) except some early $$$$$ issues René

My latest acquisition. May not be best quality but is only thing like it I have in my collection Postmaked Locks’s Island, OC 28, 1862, Halifax OC 24 1862. In ink there is a Date of OC 23 1862. Question. The way it is folded would mean the two postmarks mentioned would be on the inside of letter. It is evident that this may not be the original fols as there is a fold that runs at right edge of stamp. Would appreciate any suggestion as how this made to destination. I am assuming it was mailed from Halifax. There is a Lock’s Island Near Ragged Islands. I was in that area last month. David

David I have several early folded letters and sometimes they are rather ingenious how they create a closed document similar to the photo I added. Usually there is some sign of a wax seal but not unheard of them falling off with no trace over time. I would feel certain that the postmarks from Halifax and Lock’s Island would have been on the back. I have five envelope covers with the same stamp as yours and the cancels from the post offices the item has passed through is on the back of them all. The front side of the envelope just has the stamp obliterated. I would think the letter travelled down to the south shore by boat passing through Lock’s Island post office on it’s way to Ragged Island. I am originally from Liverpool in the neighbouring county. One of my 5 is a little cover from Liverpool, NS to Lock’s Island.

David With regard to the way the envelope was folded, as you suggest, the sender made two attempts to fold the letter. Ultimately, the first folds would have been to the sides, left then right. The circular items are wafers, made from flour, and when wet act as stickers. The bottom part would then have been tucked into the top part. When dry, a wax seal would have been applied to the middle overlap. This is the only way it would work for the postmarks to end up on the outside of the letter

The refolding of that letter is typical of the day to fit the recipient’s filing format such as a box or drawer.
