Careful when you say "we all". I have been storing mine flat in my safes for 25 years without a problem so I don't know what the rest of you do. Perhaps you have all stored your hundreds of albums flat for longer than 25 years and had a problem. Guess I just need to catch up I have no inner God-given knowledge on the way that stamps ought/ ought-not to be stored. All I know is what I have been told by many old time philatelists/collectors - "never store your albums horizontally as this flattens the stamps, forms indentations and promotes fungal growth" In fact you are the very first collector i have ever met online that thinks it's OK to do so. Which really supports my point as the overwhelming majority of philatelists/collectors that I have corresponded with on four or five forums in the past would not agree with you. In the final essence, Jack will no doubt do as he sees fit for his stamp forum, rightly so - Me, I was just expressing my opinion, that is all I can do.

What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

Nice Jack, just change the text colour in the bubble. Otherwise, cool.

Messing around trying to make a logo, so far this is what I have come up with Your last attempt with the wee man is excellent. I agree with Perfs about the albums in the first attempt...stand them up !! I just haven't the time to play at present. Let's see what the weekend brings.

Albums can be done like this Or another one is a kid orientated one. We can have a couple images, each geared toward different groups

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

I'm one who stores stamps in stockbooks, and flat storage is bad with those due to the varying thickness caused by the mylar / glassine strip. Mint stamps start to show impressions on the gum side - hardly noticeable if you look from the front, but obviously there when you look from the back, especially on stamps with soft paper like those issues from Courvoisier.
Canadian year books are awful when they're stored flat! The stamps are jumbled together in an envelope, and if those have had a bunch of weight stacked on them, you can see impressions in the stamps. Very annoying when you buy a new book only to find the stamps have light dents in them.

I just played around doing a banner, I threw it up to see what members think, needs more work I know But this is just a rough draft. I made sure that the stock books are up right I will add a few more stamps and a cover or two, I will have to reset the image so all images are in the frame. I think I need the center of the triangle a solid colour. On the bottom of the page I would like to do a cartoon type of banner, something on the lighter side

What happened to the left side of the pull-down menu bar? I have to maneuver the cursor to the extreme lower left corner in order to get the main board listing. Are others experiencing the same problem or is it just my IE9?

Per your request for thoughts, here are a few of mine:
Over half of my available viewing area when pages now open is now taken up by the banner, menu bars, auction reminder and clocks, and facebook button.
I think the banner, itself, is too large vertically and would like to see it scaled back to the height of the previous banner.
I also think the triangle is too large and should be reduced in size so it is approximately the same height as the stockbooks or slightly larger.
The color of the triangle doesn't allow for the words "The Stamp Forum" to stand out so I recommend either lightening the current background color or changing the lettering to white.
As for your suggestion about filling in the center of the triangle, I agree but would make the fill stamps from that earlier composite image rather than a solid color.

Why a triangle ? It looks most odd, something like a DIY or school accessory !!

I thought that was your favorite colour . I decided there really is no point having stamps on the header of the forum. As for a logo I leaning towards a cds type of logo. I want to make it look like a older cancel. I have plans to have a rubber stamp made with the logo of the forum that can be put on a cover. The logo will be stamp related

Need a period after the "F" in T.S.F. - or just go without periods, which I think will look better - and then add a comma: "Welcome to TSF, a place to relax and talk stamps"
I would also suggest that you make your banner wider, just adding black to the edges - that way the image doesn't try to repeat itself on widescreen monitors, like so:

My i-Pad has the banner ends cut off so the friendly word greetings are not readable.
Actually, I liked your very first banner- with all the stamps- that you had for the first several weeks. ;-)

I second jkblue's opinion.
I think the original banner gave the forum a mature, classic look,
It also occupied the least amount of space on the screen, allowing more of the forum's substance to be visible when pages were initially opened.

The banner is likewise cut off on either end with my computer monitor. I vote to bring back the "classic" appearance of the original banner- the one with all the stamps.

The cut off on the left side of the banner makes the little man appear to be peering around a corner...it makes me think of perfs14's "I see you" thread in the TSF Lounge.
