The riyal overprint would have to be 1966 or later, no?

Thanks boys, working with Scott 2009 well they seemed to have messed up Qatar, unless I am missing something. They have no stamps listed for 10th November, so that set of 15 values disappeared off the screen altogether, They do not list the 1 riyal on 1 rupee either. All the opts (scott 110 >) show no value either ? I thought I may have had a bodgie. So, Thanks to Perfs12 and Stanley and Collin.
They have also missed out on the 6 values of Education Day 1966

Stanley Gibbons comments that they list the surcharges on 1961 and 1965 issues as there is evidence of their being used for postal purposes. This suggests that other catalogue editors don't believe these surcharges were produced for postal use.
The surcharges featured a change of currency name only. The surcharge text is the currency name in English (on the left) and Arabic (on the right). The numeric values remained unchanged.

Poor Joe Meek, as crazy as Phil Spector but not as successful - his life was a tragic story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_MeekIf you want an exceedingly odd version of Telstar, guaranteed to never hit number 1 anywhere, try Joe Meek's own version of the song. Yikes! And in the spirit of wandering ever further off topic, my favourite space-themed song, The Mighty Sparrow's tribute to Laika, the "poor little puppy in the Russian satellite". Ryan

Interesting. The first could have been me, stretching baked bean cans with lengths of wire to form a phone line, with the kid next door The Laika story, I'm right with the Mighty Sparrow, Empathy is a strange animal, I don't think you can learn it, you have it, or you don't it seems to me. if one reflects on life deeply, we are all connected, and the respect to any sentient being is an honourable attitude. I still to this day rescue spiders in plastic cups, and relocate them outside. I must be the only guy in town with a humane mouse trap.

Reading wiki, it was apparent Meek couldn't read or write music, ergo, that sounds like a "vocal demo" for someone to transcribe.

I found this lone Qatar 1 Dhirham stamp among my messy loose stamps on my desk. It's very well-designed, depicting Freesia flowers, perhaps a local sight, and the stamp is not a CTO ( cancelled-to-order) stamp like the many other stamps from this Gulf nation-state (now a member of the United Arab Emirates). An online search finds this information on the Freesia flower (which I'd never heard of before): "White freesias symbolize purity and innocence. They are one of the most popular wedding flowers because they are symbolic of the purity of the bride as well as the trust between the couple. Multicolored freesia bouquets symbolize friendship and thoughtfulness."
Just a beautiful stamp, missing, perhaps its siblings from the set it was issued from. I usually prefer postally used stamps of the world, but I will give it its proper place among the many CTO's (and a few mint stamps) I have from Qatar. Too pretty to just fling into my cigar box (when I'm lazy or otherwise don't want to open an album to place one single stamp where it otherwise belongs!)

Qatar is by no means a member of the United Arab Emirates. Quite to the contrary: Saudi-Arabia,the UAR and Bahrain are at odds with Qatar. They are hostile and have cut all connections with Qatar and have emposed a trade-embargo.

I should have checked online before I posted....now I do recall the rift and sometime blockade between Qatar and it's neighbors. I think Qatar also is quite friendly with Iran, many business ties too (or was that Bahrain?) A real interesting area, stampwise as well!
