I.L.S. Great stuff! I especially like the trial color proofs because they shed a whole different light on the issued stamps. The page below in my opinion is one of the most beautiful sets in the world. Unfortunately the stamps have a cat of around $50,000 for the set making them impossible for the average collector. The proofs cat for only a couple hundred dollars. Another nice thing about proofs is that they usually look like they were just printed even 150 years after the fact. They went straight to serious collctors and were most always kept safe.

OK here's one for ya! It's not mine YET but I'm looking very hard at purchasing one. These are known as the "Turner essays".
I don't yet know a lot about the man but I'm learning. I have my irons in a lot of fires right now don't I? lol

OK, I just learned from a revenue collector that a guy named George Turner is merely a guy who compiled a book on essays and not the actual creator / artisan that made them. Good to know.

I almost pulled the trigger on one today but it got away during my indecisiveness...300 bucks is a lot to spend on an essay in my opinion.

ILS - you have a truly impressive collection of classic US. I presume you have some type of collector's insurance on them? I use the insurance recommended by the APS.

Thank you for the compliment but my collection isn't that great. In fact I can never seem to finish it! Yes it's insured.
