You probably will regret doing this........why do we transfer Scott Album pages to specific Country custom albums ?.....to get rid (besides other reasons) of this problem, that "clutters" our albums and this is 40 years of experience and I just realized it for the past 3-4 years !!....no more reverse page usage I use my own custom page "maker" and also Steiner pages if appropriate. No reverse pages in both. René btw: I respect your choice

Actually I usually find the most economical ones at WM They hold up very well and the best part you never have those yellowed pages I'm sure you've noticed in online listings.Dirt on your finger tips? doesn't matter it's on the plastic not the page.Best part with the top loaders you just pull page out mount your stamps and stick the page back in.Yes it adds bulk so more binders but in the long run much more archival safe.

If you are looking for long term storage
The better stock books (double sided) use acid free archival glassine sheets. They are available in various weights from a lot of suppliers. I have 40 year old stock books and the sheets look like new.

René btw: I respect your choiceand I respect your opinion- I will be making my own pages (I have now spent a number of hours learning the nuances of Acrobat ->illustrator -. and back to acrobat , and I am starting to build a page template. Not everything will be double sides, but in instances where one page is not enough, I'd prefer to have two (opposing) pages to view an entire series display. if it only takes one, then it may be single sided I do not want the "stamp" a;bums I grew up with!

I'm not sure long term applies in my case. My daughter, nor my grandchildren (nor anyone else in the family shows much interest, finding it just a odd hobby of mine that keeps me off the streets and out of the bars.... ;-) Either before I breath my final breath or not too long after, I expect my collection to be sold..... unless I leave to another collector (which is a possibility if my wife precedes me) sad but true

Stanley/ stainlessb, not to dispute the Wally World recommendation at all, but I've found that Costco (or Sam's Club) beats their price on sheet protectors, if you happen to have a membership at either one. My Costco sells the Avery Premium Heavyweight sheet protectors (in typical Costco fashion, they only sell the one type), but I've been using them for years and haven't had any problems. The box says they are acid free, archival safe, and won't lift print, but, of course, if you were protecting something particularly valuable, it might be worth digging a little deeper into their archival characteristics.

Now, back to getting through all these WW stamps so i can get serious (LOL)

I am using sheet protectors and are very happy with using them, wouldn't be without. I have the same reasoning as firstfrog2013, and additionally it feels comforting that the stamps are totally safe when turning the pages. Like yourself I am using both sides of the sheets, adds less bulk and allows having long series visible at the same time. I am using Esselte top and side loaded protectors, having opening on two sides makes it even easier to insert pages than if only having opening at the top. The pages still sit firmly in the protectors when turning the pages. Esselte is not the cheapest but premium quality and durable. Good luck!!

I don't understand the bulk issues people have. There is far less bulk using double-sided album pages with protectors than single-sided album pages. Half the number of pages and a little bit extra for the page protectors. I now just use the top loading protectors, and find slipping the pages in & out easy.
You guys can have your single side bulk, Bulk, BULK!

My favorite protective sheet is the 3.3 mil thick clear Office Depot / Wilson Jones. I can find them on sale at the store or get them from Amazon.

You guys can have your single side bulk, Bulk, BULK! Pete, I discussed "bulk" in relation to Scott Albums, not personally made Albums. Just wanted to clear this up. I have not started using protectors as I am just starting to do personal, less cluttered, albums. My CANADA 1 album goes up to 1945 or so, the rest stay in dedicated Lindner (Lindner 1 was sold in the 80s), hingeless (bought from Darnell Inc. many years ago) and no need to mount Albums (my father bought those as a Canada series). As for other Countries, I do not have the luxury of such Albums, so up to 1940 goes in personal Albums and the rest stays in Scott International 1-6 Albums. The one side/double-side issue is another story. FYI René

Oh OK, not much you can do with commercial albums bought from where-ever. These Scott Internationals were bought for me by my late dad, end of the 60's ($$$) and every year we bought supplement pages up to the point I became "stamp-inactive" and do not care to buy more as the Albums have grown in size since (bulky with stamps) and I started to change my method of Album-ing. Now I am starting to look at the Germany stamps.....what a "challenge" because of the History of that Country and Scott Stamp Cat does a lousy job. So I will look at the Steiner format. Not started yet as I am gathering the stamps from everywhere....2 old Junior Scotts......my old Ambassador Album......bunch of glassines+envelopes and some were hinged many years ago in the International Vol 1 mostly + Books bought in the 60's by my dad. This is a "project". I have Michel in my computer but German is not my language(s).

Any problem with acid in the plastic page protectors / envelopes y'all are suggesting? I really don't want to oxidize my stamps.

The page protectors that I bought in the 70's & 80's are still like new. No issues at all. I figure with all the advances in tech in the past 40 years, the ones out there now are safe to use Your stamps should be OK, ryebob!
