I'm no collector of Cinderella's, but "collect" them with no organization. I think they on day will be on a give away lot here at the forum. In this tread I will show some of the one I have in my "collection". Please fill in information if you have and or want. First out is a Finnish from christmas 1978.

That's a nice selection of cinderella's. I'm not much of a collector of those either. I have a few Canadian & Faroes, but that is about it. There are so many out there for every country, and just about every organization as well. It just never ends!

I really like the Philatelic Exhibition example. I have only one Scandinavian cinderella on cover, but it's a lovely little thing

it's true - these things never end as Pete once said. I did start to collect them a year or so back, but since I was already having a nervous breakdown with the enormity of WW, I thought it better to stop. However, like most of us I see the occasional few when sorting through purchases - the attached is just such a find. The Cross of Lorraine is/was an immensely powerful patriotic symbol of the Free French during WW II, and apparently an heraldic image from a lot further back in history, but quite what it's doing on a Finnish cinderella dated 1949 I've no idea, though it may be a late reference the Finnish Resistance during the 1940s. The image might just be showing an infant in a sauna - hot steamy water in the bucket and thrashing the body with plant fibres. It's possible the circular cancellation is fake - in that the item wasn't used postally since that's not generally the purpose of cinderellas - it reads 'HELSINGFORS', which is the original Swedish name for Helsinki (capital of Finland), and carries the date 16.12.49 - maybe the date is significant in the country's history? my suppositions might be wishful thinking - so if anyone knows the real meaning behind this one do shout. thanks.

Finland Christmas seal. You will find that cross world wide as the logo for Tuberculosis TB charities. Just check back most of the earlier posts in this thread from Norway and Sweden you will see it there. Nothing to do with Resistance fighters.
a charity label used alongside a regular postage stamp at Christmas which has caught part of the postmark.

I don't think so. You can see the Lorraine Cross, being used by Sweden in 1919/20 (see Tobben's 2019 post). The Free France was born in June 1940...

On this page alone, of new threads, there are now 5 different cinderella threads, for different countries.
What does that mean, in the context of the philatelic interests of some philatelists? Tired of same old, same old regular stamps? Or what?
Cinderellas are not even valid for postage, as we all know.
Yet I know a few philatelists who strongly dislike personalized postage stamps. Valid for postage, I might specify. Weird, eh?

A lot of us, love both cinderellas and postal stamps. I've sizeable stamp and postal history collections of Scandinavia, UK, Baltic Republics, Germany, Switzerland. I study the postmarks of my town (Barcelona), having catalogued them and written a number of articles on philatelic magazines for over 30 years. I've been jury on stamp exhibitions for many years. I even like proper maxicards (I've made myself a few). I buy postal stamps, nearly every week. At 64, I've been a philatelist since I was 11. And.... I do love cinderellas!
