i did a search and didn’t see anything other than a favorite Newfoundland stamp thread. So, what is your favorite stamp or stamps? It can be from any country and could even be a series of stamps. It doesn’t even have to be a stamp you own, just your favorite. I actually have two favorites. I’ve tried, but I can’t decide which one I like best. US Western Cattle in Storm (Scott #292) from the 1898 Trans-Mississippi series US Diamond Head, Hawaii issue (Scott #c46) from 1952

Unfortunately, the Diamond Head view looks a lot different today. I have a lot of favorites for various different reasons.

My favorite stamp is always the one I don't have and am currently seeking. I am very cheap and only bid ridiculously low prices at auction, hoping to snare a real bargain! I may have to wait another few years to get this one.....Great Britain issued this £1 Postal Union Congress set as the top value in a set of five in 1929. At the time collectors howled at the extremely high face value stamp; seems the desire to soak collectors goes back a long time!!! The purchasing power of one British Pound in 1929 would equal about £58 today, around US$74.
Quite a princely sum for a postage stamp!

Whenever I am asked this question it gets more difficult each time. Next time there may be another that I cannot throw out !! I cannot choose between these: The first was a gift from a Philatelic buddy when we met at Stampex, London in 2009. I just love it !! The second is my avatar here and was a special find in 2012 via a contact in Croatia. It is the only one I know about until today but there must be at least 99 others somewhere !! The third one is a set of labels by Perkins Bacon for the 1910 GB Philatelic Congress in just about perfect MNH condition. The Queen is facing right which is unusual. Also unusual is the Queens head itself. Drawn by Henry Corbould, it shows the beautiful young Queen without any accessories (Crown etc). Strangely, the head has only been used on a Ceylon Foreign Bill revenue stamp apart this Congress souvenir. What a waste !!

brightonpete....I, too, love the Bluenose. I don’t have one yet, but it’s on my list for this year. My overall favorite Canadian stamp (which I do have), though, is the 1935 George V RCMP issue (Scott #223).

My first reaction was the Bluenose. But this is the stamp I'm currently chasing after for my collection:

This is mine all time favorite, although there are many other runner-ups. It is a 1978 USSR, depicting a work by Veronese. I know there are millions of stamps depicting works of arts, but this one is special. It wasn't produced in order to rip off collectors as many countries do nowadays (at least I believe so). It was really produced to commemorate the painter. Now, the photo doesn't do any justice to the stamp. If anyone saw it in "real life" I am sure you will agree with me that it is gorgeous. I won't start describing its real beauty here, but advice you all to check it out, if you have an opportunity. In addition, it was one of my first stamps that I've got as a starter pack from my granddad, when I decided to start collecting as a kid. And as such it has also a great sentimental value.

After the Bluenose and the North Borneo orangutan, I think my favourite stamp is that unexpected classic that's hidden in the middle of a bulging glassine envelope from the box on the right. Or if it's not there, then upper middle of the box on the left. And if not there, then....

If I am not mistaken, this was one of the first of the first sets of stamps direct from New Zealand to me. It is long gone now, but I have always liked this one... (image from stampworld.com)

I presented my first, and still favourite stamp, in my introductory thread: thestampforum.boards.net/post/61627/thread . Here is a close second: France YT#PA29 from 1950: But there are so many others, either for sentimental, aesthetic, or professional reasons!

It's hard to decide what stamp is my favorite. But I will present on of the finest Norwegian stamps. It was issued in 1982 when King Olav was celebrated as 25 years as regent.

Like Mark ( madbaker ), I love the stamps of North Borneo. This one may well be my favorite: My wife wants to try my hand at doing an embroidery of it. If that happens, I will share the result.

One of my favourites is the Children´s Day stamp from Nepal, issued March 1st,1960:
The stamp was designed and printed in Nepal,in a quantity of 40.000.
The extraordinary is,that it was printed in sheets of 4 from 4 different clichés. Each cliché is different in many points from the others. I have an imperforated full sheet only, what shows that nicely:
Motive: two children in front of a pagoda with Mt.Everest in the background.

Just found this thread now. I hope that by posting in it, I create more interest and see more of other's favourite stamps. I had posted my favourite stamps in their respective country's stamps threads, but I should post them here, I think. Uruguay, 1971. Honouring police officers who died in the line of duty. The reason I love this stamp is that it's very much art deco, despite coming 40 years after art deco was at it's peak of popularity. I love post-modernism. Pakistan, 1989. Commemorating 25 years since the first television broadcast in Pakistan. I love this one because, once again, it seems the design takes inspiration from the past. It's from the late 80s, but has a very 60s/70s psychedelic look, and I love the colours. I think my one has a slight print error.
