My Australia collection ends 1965 (pre-decimals). From later issues I take most definitives,as well as engraved stamps and occasionally stamps,I just like. But the many, many modern issues I really do not want.

I printed (Steiner) pages to 1965 yestrday. Maybe start mounting today. Stamps are in manilla envelopes and here and there in lots of stock books. They have never been organized. Look forward to this. I have Michel catalogue from 2017.

And of course, when selecting to collect Australia, I also will collect the former Australian stats: New South Wales, Queensland, South-Australia, Tasmania, West-Australia and Victoria.
And if I know myself New Zeeland will be added soon.

Bas S Warwick I think the kangaroos are probably my favorite Australian stamps. The other animal stamps follow at a close second. tobben63 That goes without saying that you will definitely have to collect the former states. They have some awesome stamps.

I find the free, retroReveal site to usually be quite helpful in clarifying such things.

Four days ago I was wondering if I should start collecting Australia. I have Never ever bought any stamps from Australia. The stamps I have has come as a part of other things I have bought. I decided to end the collection in 1965, when the currency change. I might go a bit further (1970) but not now. Well I ended up with 183 different stamps. I miss 130 (+ some kangaroo/map and KGV that I have to determined the Michel numbers on) I printed The "Steiner" pages and based the collection on those pages. I have scanned some pages for you to have a look.

Very nice tobben63 Good start !! Since I have not inventoried Australia lately, I really do not know what I have except 676 stamps (my computer says so) but I have not really put any effort in the past 2 years......so many Countries WW - hope you do well - I have seen a "dups" envelope this afternoon as I was preparing a shipment to Sacramento for Austria and Belgium "dups" + US stuff for a member. The early stamps of any Country is always the challenge. René

In my case, following the recent arrival of the Australian packet I bought from feebletodix (not for the Australian stamps, per se, mind you, but for some of the topical stamps of interest to my collection I could see in the picture he posted), I now have graduated Australia (and its associated territories: previous Australian states, Australian Antarctic Territory, Cocos, Christmas and Norfolk Islands) to their own stand-alone stockbook. Which then made room in my Oceania stockbooks to be re-organized and fit the New Zealand stamp packet from the same provenance. I still do not actively collect Australia and/or its territories, but I now have a decent sample.

There is a Australia lot on a Norwegian auction site with 9 (nine) stock books filled with duplicates. The picture show a lot of kangaroo/map stamps. The bid now is $79. I might go for it. Have some days to think.

Stay AWAY from Kangaroos and KGV Pre Decimals. There is so much variations with color and watermarks it will wreck your head. Sold what I had, no idea of value, just glad to get rid of them, head scrambled. King George VI to Queen Elisabeth 1952-1966. Just pick one to start, and stick to that, knowledge being the teacher here, progress to whatever from there on that rattles your marbles. DO NOT get into the variations of missing colors, perfs in the wrong place, etc, and one can keep adding to this list of worthless items. Basically, to me, and I will/can get shot down for this, it's printers waste that missed the garbage bin. After all, I would not buy a new car that did not have a steering wheel, variation For me, I LUV the Decimal era, up to 2000, but that's me 2 Auction Houses to watch, now again I say, stick to the period you decide on. statusint.com/index.phpwww.prestigephilately.com/
