tonight I seem to be soaking a great many stamps from the Netherlands, especially the 1949 Queen Juianna series and I notce many have the 202 watermark which is not mentioned in Scotts? Is this typical? (excuse the background It was on the initial blotting towel...)

The 1949-51 have a ring watermark. There are 2 types, horizontal & vertical
Based on how paper is fed into printer

Ah- i believe I saw both this evening during the soaking andbloptting episode-is there a difference as far as date of issue? (one earlier, one later?)

The differense come when the "printer" place the paper I think. The one you show is "laying" circles.

I came across this thread while looking for blurred Photobucket images and wanted to point out that Scott does indicate that the 1949 Queen Juliana issue (Scott 306 to 318) is watermark 202. Scott's listing convention is that when a watermark is shown, all subsequent listings will have that watermark until a different watermark or "Unwmk." is noted.
