stainlessb The first clue is the condition consider that it is supposed to be from 1848 now taking that as a hint I would definitely think reprint.I dabble in the local posts and come across many that are similar to yours.there are even some people hawking freshly made ones all the time.In short a minefield to walk through.Nice anyway.

firstfrog2013 I pretty much expect it to be, but then HipStamp has 5 offered, with a reprint (but no details) and someof the "genuine" look about the same as this (albeit the "tail" is trimmed off) The question, if there was an "official" later reprint, when? I'm going to do some more digging, but I'm not getting too excited

Your stamp is a reprint Transfer VII of the original - the white dot in the upper branch of the T of DISPATCH is the main clue - several others. As usual, "REPRINT" is misused - these are unofficial FORGERIES - there were no official reprints
"Reprints" as noted are very neat, lack background lines, shading on nose, the apostrophe is never right, the paper is very different There are 2 types of originals - this is the other one
BTW there are what are considered as real forgeries. There are at least 10 variations and all are somewhat crude
