The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was moved further inland in 1999 or so due to the receding shore line.

Cape Bruny lighthouse is the second oldest extant lighthouse tower in Australia, located on the south coast of Tasmania. It was first lit in March 1838 and was eventually decommissioned on 6 August 1996.

Agree!! The Lighthouse on the stamp in my avatar is TORUNGEN LIGHTHOUSE, outside my small town of Arendal. Actually it was erected 2 lighthouses - to distinguish Arendal from the other places along the coast. The reason was that at that time different 'flashing' light characteristics had not yet been invented, so it was no way for the navigators to distinguish between the lighthouses by looking at their lights. Arendal thus became known by sailors as the only town along that coast with 2 lighthouses.

During the 19th century around 20 British lighthouses were built by the Stevenson family of Scottish engineers. Several involving considerable dangers to the builders. ROBERT STEVENSONRobert Stevenson had three sons, Alan David, and Thomas , and several of their descendants were all lighthouse engineers. One exception was the only son of Thomas, grandson of the original Lighthouse man , who is better known as the novelist and writer Robert Louis Stevenson!

Seeing these stamps made me realize why I stopped collecting GB stamps..,,,,,compare these to the Elton John issue... It's a matter of taste, I suppose. From what I've seen of the Elton John issue, they're not that bad, but I won't seek them out for my collection. The lighthouse booklet is on the better end of the current French booklets that they issue. There is about one a month of such booklets, which adds up to a pretty penny. And most of them are not particularly memorable, in my opinion, but I collect them for completeness.

tobben63 has shownsome of the german lighthouse stamps before. So here just some additional information:
The first pair of this long-running series. To me it is pretty annoying, that so many german stamps are issued with water-activated gum (above) and also in a self-adhesive version.(At least the self-adhesive stamps are easy to be washed off.)
They not only differ by their perforation or perforation look-like rouletting, but also they are printed differently.
The self-adhesive version (right stamp) seems to have been printed in a different,i.e.smaller screen. But I am not 100% sure about it and need to consult Michel-Spezial (Specialized).
The self-adhesive 55 Cent was issued on July 8th,2004,the same day as the two water-activated ones. However the 45 Cent was issued as self-adhesive stamp on July 7th,2005,but is still inscribed 2004 !
