Hello from Eastern Europe. Some 50 years collecting {started 10years old} and WW dealer until about 10 years ago. As a dealer selling only before 1950 and mainly before 1900 stamps I had to make sure they were real so I have many books/catalogs. As a seller I basically used only stockbooks and I never started making pages. I have a large collection of forgeries and 2 excellent forgery members from here online led me to TSF. My personal interests are mainly Europe, Japan, China, Russia {especially Zemstvos and RSFSR}, some South America and US locals

to the Forum (your forum) ! @rustamps Presently doing inventory and custom pages for my FRANCE Émission Sage stamps, using Scott e-2019 Classic and Spink/Maury 2017....sure is a big difference between those two catalogs (All catalogs doing FRANCE classics, I suppose) - do not have Y&T and even if I would, this would represent a "thesis" René

I think the last only Maury from 2009 may have been the best one before the Spink arrangement. Now SG has a specialized France

Tell us more about forgeries... Sperati? Well Sperati yes but also Fournier, Oneglia, Imperato, Fohl, Wada, Segui, Kamigata, Frodel, Spiro Senf, Alisaffi, Panelli, Poirier, Torrres, Foure, Satjian, Asmus, Schroder, Jurgens, Winter, Friedl, Mercier, Smeets, Thuin, Treherne, Scott and some 50 others
I must add that I have not intention of getting into forgeries unless directly asked as you have a member who has given me much information and is very informed on the subject - probably more than me.

Welcome to TSF, @rustamps ! I am also a classics collector, and have also been collecting for about 50 years, so we have some points in common in our backgrounds and interests. I never thought of myself as being especially interested in forgeries, and when I decided to limit my collecting to classic era material, I never fully appreciated how significant the number of forgeries would be. Nelson (@falshung) here on TSF has helped me and all of us very much in this regard, so I imagine that he may be the member to whom you refer. I am sorry to say that I have certainly found my share of forgeries in my acquisitions, but fortunately for me, at least so far as I know, all of the forgeries I have were part of collections that I bought, and none of them were counted as genuine in the first place. Anyway, I look forward to seeing some posts of your favorite material. Enjoy your time with us! Regards from an American expatriate living in France, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy)

Hi rustamps to the forum. You state you have some interest in South America. What countries in particular, or all countries? My collections are Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela with an emphasis on Colombia. Jerry B

I never thought of myself as being especially interested in forgeries, and when I decided to limit my collecting to classic era material, I never fully appreciated how significant the number of forgeries would be. I have discussed with some who say they collect WW pre 1900 but not forgeries - good luck with that Long before good catalogs and information we have today, forgeries and fakes were very common often more than the genuine. Most pre 1920 catalogs showed forgeries in illustrations.
Many forgers listed them as facsimiles to replace the real ones - no eBays then to buy from I have not collected or sold ANY country without forgeries. To me they are part of stamp history and have a rightful place but buying anything old as genuine can be a challenge from most any source.
