Nope, one at a time, and how you place the stamp is up to you. Put it in crooked & make more work. Place it straight & select exactly what you want scanned & there you go. Canon scans individual stamps, but not VS. Not with my software Pete.....but now I own an Epson CCD technology and it also works with my stamp Image software - Good to talk to you in Ontario btw !! I tried searching... all I found was date stamps, rubber stamps, but no stamp stamps.... beyong images of actual stamps (nothing that seemed helpful)
If it's windows only, that leaves me out-

I use windows 7 with 8GB RAM and when I played with it I did not see any performance issues. I do have an SSD drive so that can help performance.

I just loaded PMGS and it only takes 120 MB-300 MB depending on size of loaded image...seems pretty minimal
* but I have 32 GB of RAM for recording...but I've never used anywhere near that much

If you are scanning to post and not do any editing, JPG is fine.

When I use the PMGS StampFix program (thanks very much for that, PostmasterGS) I find there's a limit to how many stamps I can process at once. If I cover the entire scanner platen with stamps, it seems to be too many and the program won't process them all. If I keep the number of stamps lower (say, 25 or so), then the program runs fine. Ryan: I thought I had that app. I just downloaded it again. I'll see what it can do. I had downloaded HP Easy Scan, but it doesn't see my scanner. So that's out.

Epson arrived- after some initial testing- I have to say I like the VueScan software much more than the Epson- the Epson works OK, but I have more flexibility in VueScan..and I have PMGS for multiscans , but I tend to focus on one at a time (I have a great deal of patience) so here's an intital scan and svade file (.tif) looks very much like the stamp itself. This is a much higher resolution than I will normally scan at
I may soon have a Cannon LiDE 300 available for cost of shipping and some surprise stamps!

Stan stainlessbWhy do you like VueScan that much ? - it uses your Epson Scanner, does not *edgeskew, *seperate your stamps scanned automatically, or *trim your scans - I have the free version of VueScan- does not impress me at this point - maybe I do not know how to use it but still does not do what I do with my software for the items discussed * René Cheers !

VueScan full version has auto crop, auto skew, andas to the separating, I can do in PMGS if need by, but for the most part I just scan one at a time
I'll play with the Epson software some more, but the color was much deeper/more brilliant ( pet peeve of mine as you may have noticed)
it's all good! Anyway uyou want it, that's the way you want it!... somebody said in a song... Jefferson Starship I think...

stainlessb , Congrats! You said: I'll play with the Epson software some more, but the color was much deeper/more brilliant ( pet peeve of mine as you may have noticed)I have seen this too but if you toggle "auto" icon so disabled it will not make the so called improvements. You can do this in preview mode to see which you like. My Vuescan scans had exposure and contrast issues and did not spend a significant amount of time trying to tinker with settings. From a purest aspect, Vuescan likely does the least processing.

after an enjoyable day/afternoon scanning..... in my humble opinion the Epson V600 is far better at color recognition than the Canon LiDE300.
The Epson software...I prefer the VueScan (full pro version), despite a lack of multiple scans, separating (which I never actually tried to do using the Epson software) the VS color rendition and detail is excellent. Because I want to have an acurate digital representation of what my collection will ultimately hold, as well as let potential buyers/traders know when I start the process of offering stamps I am no longer interested in keeping
The Canon does a good job with detail and clarity but everything seems to come out much brighter and it does struggle with some colors, which, although there are work arounds, i'd rather spend more time examining and cataloguing my stamps than putzing with color settings.
I mentioned earlier that I might soon have a Canon LiDE300 available for cost of shipping and asome kind of surprise stamp(s).... now it seems sily to offer a scannerr I don't find accurate..
but if anyone is interested PM me ... just a couple of months old, I have the box it came in
tomorrow is another day. For now I have a BBQ to attend to
Cheers all!

I am bumping this thread up to see if I can do something to get better scans. I use a HP DeskJet 2652 which used to work reasonably well. I had some work done on my laptop about a month ago in which my programs & files were taken off and then reloaded. Since then my scanner is producing a bluish-grey background tint to my scans. I am at a loss as to what caused it or how to get it returned to its old quality. Has anyone had a similar problem or can anyone suggest a fix?
Thanks.

stamphinger IMHO, VueScan is well worth the cost (I think it's $50 for software and one year support or $99 for unlimited support. there are frequernt upgrades) I have an Epson Perfection V600 which I am really happy with- prior to this I purchased a Canon LiDE 300... but I had issue with color resolution/reproduction that even the VueScan didn't completely solve (detailed elsewhere in this thread). The Epson scans look pretty much the same on the monitor as they do to my eyes just looking at the stamp (but much larger which is good .... very good) You can download for free! Disclaimer: I am in no way, shape, or form professionally affiliated with VueScan and I did indeed pay for my copy!

I had an older Epson and it started getting double vision (color shifts) and finally got a new scanner. It was ok in monochrome.

stamphinger, have you tried removing and then re-installing the scanner's software? I'm not seeing the background tint in the image you posted but that might just be a function of my color blindness. I've attached black construction paper to the inside of my scanner's lid because I think my scans come out better on a black background. I also press down on the lid when scanning covers to eliminate the shadows that sometimes appear when the edges of the cover are slightly elevated off of the platen.

I have heard good things about VueScan and went to its home page. I didn't see a "free" download, just a free trial for one month. Did I miss something?
The $49.95 package is about what I can buy a new scanner for. Nothing wrong with my machine as far as printing, photocopying goes, just scanning. Interesting that photocopied items do not have the bluish-grey tint. I might give the free trial a chance to see what it can do.
Thanks, stainlessb, for the suggestion.

You can download to use but scans include a watermark until you pay. I use both Vuescan and Epson.

I tried Vuescan for 1 month - did not suit me so did not buy it - I have my own software which works with my Epson flat bed V370 and it does the trick for me: deskew, trim, etc....even separates many stamps scanned....it's called EZImage and works without flaws with Epson.

tomiseksj:
I haven't tried reloading the printer software. That may have something to do with the changed results after the work on my laptop. Something was wrong with my Windows program files and the computer guy took all of the Windows files, my app files and local files off. He said he reloaded Windows 10 and accessory programs, which may have included updated drivers for my printer/scanner. The appearance of the scan screen is certainly different than what I remember. I'll see if I can find the disc that came with the printer and reload it. The device may work better with the old software than with the new. I guess I'll also try to connect with the HP tech support to see what they think.
Thanks, Steve, for the suggestion

stamphinger, it's also worth having a look on the Hewlett Packard site to see if they have updated Windows 10 software for your printer/scanner as it may provide better support - have a look on support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers
