Based in the UK I am a Senior collector for 60+ years. I have moved from all world collecting, through GB and Commonwealth to a 30 year specialisation in Early Denmark ( now sold!). Current interests are Samoa, Wartime mails , and a Social theme on tobacco and anti smoking.
I have exhibited at Stampex, London 2010 and Nordia in Finland and frequently show to my own local club and other societies.
i hope to be able to contribute useful experience and information from time to time.

to TSF! The evolution of your collecting interests is quite interesting. I'd be interested in knowing more about the tobacco and smoking-related stamps!

Welcome to TSF, vikingeck ! I agree with hrdoktorx , the evolution of your collecting areas is interesting in itself. I also look forward to seeing some posts of your favourite material. By the way, where in the UK are you located? Regards, Chris (aka Beryllium Guy )

to TSF! The evolution of your collecting interests is quite interesting. I'd be interested in knowing more about the tobacco and smoking-related stamps! About 6 years ago I was asked to help a widow with her late husband’s collection. Amongst a quarter of a tonne of stuff was a small stock book collection of stamps relating to tobacco, anti smoking and cancer. Loose and not organised. i started a Social philately exhibit mounted and written up which got large silver gilt at London 2015 show . It now runs to 8 frames and competitive exhibiting at £25 per frame is too expensive for a pensioner . I’d rather spend the £200 on a decent stamp or a cover. once I have worked out how to post images here I may get round to showing some stuff on a new thread. alex

Hi Chris I am way north of Hadrian’s an Antoninus’ Walls but have been known to raid south to York and London on stamps expeditions

There is a lot of info regarding "how to" on the FAQ board. Here is a link to the thread about posting images.

Hey vikingeck, welcome to the forum. Your name reminds me of the character Wee Eck from the Oor Wullie comics. My Uncle Tommy used to send them to my mum after my family emigrated to South Africa in the late 60s. (They were not Scottish, but for some reason the local Newcastle area newspaper that he sent used to carry that strip.) Anyway, good to have you here.

Thanks Mick. Yes Eck is just one of the many variations on the name Alexander we have north of Hadrian's wall.
(Sir Alex Ferguson is also known as ECK!)
