Is there a reason Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers for the Peace and Commerce series jumps around so much - are that more varieties than marcophilie.org/timbres-classiques/timtyp.html shows? I'm working a page and I'm almost ready to disregard SG #'s

It would have been helpful if you had included the word France in your heading. I have not got used to checking the Sub boards folks tend to use here.
Again I suspect your SG is the simplified listing . As I recall there are different series with slight variations in the position of the tiny text below the image. SG simply lists the basic types taking only the cheapest of each value . And the listing contains a mix of the different series.
SG specialised would have the lists separated and in the correct order.
SG is the standard for G.B. and theCommonwealth . Yvert Is probably the one for France

I thought that might be it, but it threw me off as the numbers are not in any specific order and even seems to skip others. I have ordered a specialized SG for France which should arrive next week, and I'll seek a cop of Yvert and I have amended my title
