ajkitt It looks so cool to get that many stamps on a page. Can't wait to see one filled up! I'm curious, where do you get the larger paper? ebay (from superfineonline), but I'm sure it's widely available. It's just 11 x 17 bristol cut down to size (acid free and heavier paper than copy or printer paper). The actual images of the pages have lines at the 10" and 11.5" marks to aid in the cutting process. And yeah, I can't wait to get to the German inflation issues... what I have now looks frustratingly overcrowded, but I wanted to keep them together, soooo...

I'm curious, where do you get the larger paper? I am quite keen to move to larger pages, I think that they look far more professional than the standard office A4/Letter sized pages, also, as many of the larger pages are multi-hole, they offer an opportunity to abandon page protectors which I use partly to circumvent the weakness of the three ring system and partly to free up space on the page that would be taken up by the holes.
Unfortunately, the systems are not compatible, as each manufacturer uses a different number of holes.
The pages are not especially cheap, at the current exchange rate the Lighthouse are about CDN$53 for a pack of 50 and the Safe pages, sold in packs of 10, are about $CDN70 for 50 pages.
I still need to compare the selection of binders and prices offered by each company before deciding which system is the most promising, but I am presently leaning towards the more expensive Safe pages. The Lighthouse pages have slits running up the left-hand side at the margin, which I assume is to make the pages easier to turn when held in a spring-back binder, which although not a deal breaker, I find slightly less attractive.
On the other hand I am a bit miffed with Safe, I contacted them a few weeks ago via their website with a question about their pages and they have yet to respond - although I must admit, I did also suggest that if if they send me a few samples I would be happy to write a review on my website They could have just said no and still answered my query though. What is holding me back at the moment is not having a wide format printer. I am not sure which of the many models to choose from, or more importantly if it would really warrant the expense. Local printing companies were no help either, there is not a huge selection to choose from near where I live. I tried Staples, the UPS store and a small printing company, but none of them could help me, they all had a problem with running pre-punched paper through their printers.

When I started my recent pages I was using Scribus 1.5.4 but had issues with occasional crashing especially when pasting copied data. It would have spells of "not responding" and sometimes recovered if left it alone.
I updated to the latest release 1.5.6.1 but immediately noticed the fonts were not rendering well. After a quick google search, the issue had been reported and a test build 1.5.7svn had been posted so tried that and problem was improved. The latest version feels much snappier and stable than 1.5.4.

First Draft of Small Queens done, based on listings in Unitrade, Michel and Gibbons.
Have the Hillson and Nixon book on the Small Queens on request from the American Philatelic Research Library - have to wait for it to be returned then I will be next on list. I want to dig a bit deeper into the relationship between shades and perforations, and while I've seen some good summaries of the 1c, 3c and 10c values, the other values still a bit of a mystery to me so time to make use of my APS membership (actally I love the APRL, and have borrowed several things in the past). Once I make it through Hillson & Nixon, I'll likely add some more shade and perf varieties to the pages. This is why I really love to design my own pages, I can include whatever I want, including shades "unrecognized" by the major catalogs. In the meantime as I wait for the Hillson & Nixon, to maintain the chronology I will be working in the Registration stamps next, inserting them in the album after the 5c Large Queens on the middle page above. I am one of those collectors who likes to keep chronology as the main basis of organization, rather than splitting out the different service types (Registration, Dues, Officials etc) into separate sections.

Have spent the last couple nights working on more layouts, incorporating the Registration Stamps, Widow Weeds, Plate Varieties of Large and Small Queens and the 1897 Jubilee issue. This first page is my "intro" page for the first Canada album, showing the watermarks and details of the Large and Small Queen plate varieties.
And here are the pages representing the issues starting with the 1875 Registration issue, working through the printings of the Small Queens before ending with the Widow Weeds and finally the Jubilees. The first couple pages represent reworks of the pages I posted previously as I worked the Registration issues into the chrnology. Still somewhat of a first draft overall as I wait for the Hillson and Nixon Small Queens book, which will likely have me add a couple more rows of shade varieties to the Small Queens, and some other refinements. Jubilees also will probably add a few more shade varieties, so that is still a work in progress. But feel like this week has been very productive, have got the first sixteen pages of Canada now laid out for the most part. Have one more night off work so will try to get the 1897-1898 Maple Leaves and the 1898 Special Delivery laid out. Then probably a bit of break as the real world of work pulls me back into its clutches.

I love your work, djcmh. That intro page is quite compelling. A lot to take in on one page. Very useful as a reference. In practice, do you find yourself flipping back and forth to it? I assume you could take it out of the binder when you're 'working'. Not sure if you talked about this before, but for expensive sets like the Jubilees, did you consider leaving off the highest values? Or are you determined to get them all? I don't have custom pages for Canada (my first pre-printed album was Canada and I'm sticking with it for now) but I can't imagine ever owning higher than the $1. And if I'm really honest, 50c.

Love to look at your pages, djcmhMy Custom Canada pages only show what I expect to finish with - less detailed - but I try to put as many varieties as I can (afford) and I follow Unitrade Specialized Canada Cat. by numbers - lots of work you showed us there - great !! René

I play the lottery, so there is always hope Plus, when I inherited my father's collection, he had the Jubilees up to the $2 (less the 20c). So I have a good start on them already and the reference page - the beauty of using Vario pages is exactly to be able to take out these page inserts for reference, corrections etc. Much more flexibility than a printed album page with the stamps on them.

Got the Maple Leaves laid out tonight, will probably be the last I get done for a couple weeks as I head back to work in the middle of the final holiday rush. Damn that week of vacation went fast! A page worth of Maple Leaf Victorias, with some extra varieties based off the blogs posted a couple years back by the owner of Brixton Chrome canadianphilately.blogspot.com/ a great source of information on all aspects of Canadian philately from 1851 to the 1970s issues his post on the Maple Leaves is here : canadianphilately.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-maple-leaf-issue-of-1897-1898.html

Between Christmas off work and night off last night was able to finish up my Canada page inserts for Victoria's reign, working in the Numerals, Christmas 1898 and Provisionals of 1899 into the pages.
Might reorganize the 1898 Numerals issue a bit so that each release date is a separate row of the page, rather than lumping all the 1898 issues together. The later Special Delivery stamps from 1913 and 1920 will get pushed into later pages as I work through Edward VII and into the George V Admirals, but I have them in now so I don't forget to include them later! Now just need to wait for the Hillson and Nixon book on the Small Queens to come from APRL so I can add some more shade varieties to that section, and then I'll have all the page inserts for the Victoria era done for Canada. Probably will be 23-24 pages (12 Vario pages total) to cover Victoria's reign. Next up, Edward VII issue, and the first of the Postage Dues.

I thought I would post here, rather in France as Ihad previously posted the stamp block pair and booklet. There was no way to fit both on a single page, so these will oppose each other- each with information and something to look at (I just happened to have to correct size mounts, though cutting wide mounts presents a challenge as my paper cutter has a tendency to want to "pull" the mount being quite thin as I near the end of the cut. I discovered placing a piece of paper underneath seems to remedy this.)

Colombia Scadta album - these admittedly rather pedestrian looking pages have been formatted in the Steiner style as an aid to collectors who use those albums. The album is organized in accordance with the Sanabria World Airmail Catalogue 1966, so having access to this catalogue would be helpful for anyone who would like to make use of these pages. Countries are kept on separate pages so that a collector has the choice of keeping the pages with the country of issue or as a group under Colombia.

The album is organized in accordance with the Sanabria World Airmail Catalogue 1966, so having access to this catalogue would be helpful for anyone who would like to make use of these pages. The Scott Classic Specialized catalog added SCADTA listings several years ago. (Someone here will probably know the year.) Unfortunately, they only list it in the Classic Specialized and not in the Colombia section of the regular catalog. It seems to be pretty detailed (although it's not my field) with about 5-1/2 pages of listings. clivel, would you like me to send you some pics of those pages from the 2021 edition? I'm just thinking that, these days, as expensive as the Classic Specialized is, it's probably more available and accessible than the Sanabria (which I managed to grab a copy of a few years ago). On the other hand, you may well be mentally 'done' with this particular entity for a long while to come! Just let me know.

Thank you very much for the offer, I didn't realise that Scott had added SCADTA listings to the Classic Specialized catalog, but I think that I am pretty much "mentally done" with it for awhile, the album is 61 pages, so I don't have any plans for revisiting it in the near future.

polarbear your pages are really coming on nicely This is my first attempt at creating my own album using AlbumEasy. Be kind! I'm already not liking the border and have changed it to another. That border is not my favourite either, I think that it may look better on large pages, but find it too heavy for regular letter sized pages.
I vacillate between what I call the Classic border (I think that it was originally a Scott album border): A simple double line: And custom borders for example the shamrock one I created for Ireland: Indecision is a terrible thing Initially I really liked the Shamrock border, but now am not so sure - if anyone would like a copy though, send me a private message and I will happily send you a copy.
