A simple double line: And custom borders for example the shamrock one I created for Ireland: Indecision is a terrible thing clivel I use the triple line in AlbumEasy. I think it's the "default". It's simple and clean, like your double line. The Shamrock one is a nice touch to the Ireland page. You could probably do a maple leaf for Canada too. Did you do that using AlbumEasy?

Yes, done in AlbumEasy The Maple leaf sounds like a good idea for Canada, perhaps I will add both Shamrock and Maple leaf borders to the next release of AE, but that would probably be a good few months from now.
I like the triple line as well and have used it for many of my pages, although I really need to try and standardise on one style so that my albums have a consistent look.

Been working on France commemoratives- a bit of a challenge as the orientation and size is in no particular order. Below is first (draft- I'm sure I've missed something there) page of 1946 commemoratives. I'm thinking I may haver gotten too ambitious and placed too many stamps on the page- I could place the airmail stamps on a separate page and space the other seven on this page out (2-3-2) If I stay with this, I may raise #750 to align with the tops of the other boxes- right now it is on the centerline I know some may find too much information, but I am hoping this is enough to not cause me to always having to refer back tot he catalogues- some of it may seem redundant, like possibly the color on single issue commemoratives and the denomination, but I wanted to stay consistant. thoughts?!

Alternate pages.... and here's the air mail issues, which had one issue issued in 1947, so this page would come after the 1946completed thoughts? public commentary?

stainlessb , those pages look nice! However the artist in me is wondering if some of the text could be put inside the boxes and then covered with the stamp when you acquire it. I’m thinking of the colour and face value notation at the bottom of the boxes. That would clean up the look a bit. I’m thinking as it is now, it might overwhelm the stamps? Otherwise I’m impressed and glad to see you’re giving the designer & engraver credit! As an artist I appreciate that. That’s something for me to consider when designing my pages moving forward.

polarbear This is one of the key decision points people make when they create their own pages. Some want what is almost reference book with lots of visible supplemental information while others go for the minimalist approach. Those with extensive writeups could be considered literature - create a PDF and you have a reference book.

Those with extensive writeups could be considered literature - create a PDF and you have a reference book. I actually prefer the minimalist approach, but you wouldn't know it from looking at my pages. That's one downside of a specialized collection — you really have no choice but to put lots of info on the page, otherwise you're left wondering why there are 9 copies of the same stamp on the page.

polarbear when I first started making my own pages, what prompted me to not put the information in the box came from acquired collections where the mounted stamp was not correct, but the collector had 'filled" the page!), but one wouldn't know unless they removed the stamp. Also, I use black mounts that cover the box, so once the mount was in place what was printed underneath would be almost totally obscured (I use split back mounts, but only affix the bottom half) as PostmasterGS mentioned, being a specialized collector of sorts I feel requires the added information as many of the Types have very subtle differences... and then there's nuances/shades...

stainlessb , I understand now. I haven’t reached that level of detail in my collecting life yet, but I can see it coming. I’ve been avoiding Canada’s 3 cent small queens for some time. I just have a lot of other stamp stuff on my plate before I get to them.

Agree with you, the LQs and SQs (especially) need time, good references, good color charts and a decent "gauge" to measure perfs !! I have re-done mine 3 times and keep changing the varieties......hahahhaah René

I opted for the alternate page designs and separated the air mail issue out - a few edits from what was originally posted If you are interested see here scroll down (see France> France Stamps , latest post if the link does not work- I cannot discover how to get it to link to just the entry in the thread.... anyone?)
The commemoratives - semi-postal issues will have to wait until some replacement mounts (Showgard JV) arrive!

If you click on the "gear" icon in the button menu of the post you are interested in making a link of, click on the "Link to Post" option. You'll get a dialog box up with two choices. The top option is for the thread and the bottom option is for the post. Just copy that second link and you are done. Create a new link in your new message and paste in the link, give it an appropriate title and bob's yer uncle! link to the postWell, that one goes to your post complaining about the link, not the post of the pages!

The last two months of 2020 I spent al my free time to selling stamps, success but hard and in the end boring. But it paid of. This ment that I did not do any work on my own collection. So in the start of the new year I decided it was time to do some work on my collection. Inspired by the new version of AlbumEasy created by@clivel I went on making album pages. Here is some examples of my Pakistan 1947-1970 pages. I like clean pages with not to much text, but reference number to catalog. The matter how much info you put on the album page, you need the catalog to check and control. I use Michel but there are some Official stamps the also have SG numbers. If someone want a free PDF copy just message me and provide your e-mail. The first Issue, overprinted Indian stamps. This series you have all seen or have examples of. But it has some interesting design errors and ways of writing country name. AlbumEasy can now make triangle stamp boxes. The problem is to get the right size of the box, trial and error method. Please comment what you think.

tobben63 Those are nice pages. I also like a minimalist style. I have not had to do the triangle yet, but I did have to do a diamond. That turned out to be easier than I thought.

napo , The advantage of doing your own or going the print on demand method for digital albums. is that you do not end up with binders full of empty pages as with a traditional printed album. Printed albums by their nature have inherent restrictions on coverage etc to remain affordable.

Not only what angore said, but you can tailor the pages to your personal wants. Design the pages any way you want to best showcase your collection. Have as little or as much info on display with the stamps, covers etc etc etc. Do it YOUR way! I know, because I do it MY way now!

Here is an example from the old command line Album Easy, that demonstrates the "as much information" that designing your own album pages allows.

Here is an example from the old command line Album Easy, that demonstrates the "as much information" that designing your own album pages allows. Wow Alyn, you must be one of the earliest users, the GUI version was released in September 2005 The command line is still there for the anachronistics amongst us:
just add the -c option at the command prompt i.e AlbumEasy -c album.txt
or on Linux ./AlbumEasy.sh -c album.txt And your album page should (hopefully) look identical whether created on AlbumEasy V1.0 or the latest version. One thing I have really tried over the years is to ensure complete backwards compatibility, some commands have been superseded by newer versions, but they are still there flagged as obsolete in the help text.

clivel I used to have a copy on a USB stick and created them from windows on the command line while on break at work. I am not sure what version it was, but I have been using AlbumEasy for a long time and think it is the best-dedicated album generation program out there.

With the trains pulling into the station... I have begun to receive the M/S Plate Blocks of Canada Locomotive Issues referred to earlier in this thread and have started creating the album pages for them, Giving credit where credit it due, I want to thank both Al ( angore ) and Stan ( stainlessb ) who provided some inspiration for these pages with the sharing of their own work and from the comments they received... Happy collecting!

Over last couple weeks have worked through the Edward VII era of Canada, and now have the page inserts finished. Includes the Edward VII definitives, the 1906 Postage Dues, and the 1908 Quebec Tercentenary issues. Shade and Plate Flaw varieties for these issues added in to the main listings.
For the 1906 Dues, I have added spaces for the later printings (1916-1917 Red Violet Wet printings on medium paper listed by Gibbons, the 1924 thin papers and the 1928 Red Violet Dry Printings listed by Scott-Unitrade). They join the later printings of the 1898 Special Delivery, and will be integrated into the Admiral issues where they fit in the chronology. So right now the last page and a half will have more items added before they are "finished".
My "cheat sheet" page illustrating plate flaws is now on a second page, as the Victorian era ended up with a full page just for itself. This album now has 12 Varios worth of pages (front and back). I use Vario F binders and usually try to have albums have around 30 Varios or so of pages, as the inserts add thickness to the album. Probably will make my Canada volume I cover up to end of George V issues, or if that gets a bit too thick, up to the end of the Admiral era, will have to see how the page inserts lay out. Anyways, now to prepare myself for the Admirals.

My project for the last few months has been to create an album of US Presidents. I finally finished, although I'm sure there will be quite a few corrections. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Feel free to use it yourself, if you'd like. www.dropbox.com/s/jizy6h5mtfjqty3/Presidents.pdf?dl=0

One design feature that I have never seen in the DIY world is the connection of stamp boxes similar to how Scott and Minkus did their pages especially for earlier definitives. This design may look ok with hinged stamps but can look like a mess with black mounts.

My pages just keep getting better, if I do not say so myself ;-)
I am actually quite pleased with this latest set and have ( Andy Pastuszak) to thank. It was a posting of his own US Stamp Album pages and the feedback he received that made me re-visit my own page layout. With the text now left-justified, the look is cleaner and as at least one individual pointed out, more easily read.
If there are other suggestions, let me know...
Thanks and happy collecting!
