I have not printed the page out yet so I don't know how well the Showgard mount will cover the border. I may have to adjust the border around the stamp a bit. The page looks great My preference is to have the images a little smaller, it is not only to make sure that the image is covered by the mount, but also I find that smaller images are less distracting from the stamps for pages that are partially complete.
The ALBUM_STAMP_IMG_NEW_SETTING adjust the spacing between the box border and the images, effectively scaling the image. The default values if this command has not been included is equivalent to:
ALBUM_STAMP_IMG_NEW_SETTING(0.7 0.7 false) leaving a 0.7mm gap between the border and image*. Changing it for example to something like ALBUM_STAMP_IMG_NEW_SETTING(3.0 3.0 false) will increase the gap to 3mm for all subsequent stamps, thus reducing the image size.
Clive
* I have always been unhappy with the name of this command and the default values of 0.7mm, but they stem from an error in an earlier version and the need to always maintain backwards compatibility.

I have to say it is nice to communicate with the person that actually writes the software that I am using and then to actually get a compliment back...I might have to get a bigger hat...I'm afraid my head might swell just a tad.
I saw that ALBUM_STAMP_IMG_NEW_SETTING discussed in the manual or in the Help file...somewhere...I haven't really played around with it too much yet.
I'm hoping to 1. Get a page printed out (I'm working on some eBay stuff...trying to get posted and I need to clean the printer heads on my printer before I can print or run my file downstairs to the laserjet.) and 2. Set up another year page and move forward to see how things are going to look. Thanks for checking in with me! I appreciate it! Mike

I'm working on a [age for the first of the France Semeuse cameé (solid background). Do the explanations on htis mage make sense? would you know what part of the stamp to look at? With some of the Semeuse I have included images, but I'm hoping this is straightforward Below are examples of each Thank you for any comments (final page printed on Ivory Velum)

These days I finished one more page of my Uruguay collection, with the challenge of identifying all the varieties of the Artigas series. The pages are designed with AlbumEasy.

I recently saw some pre-printed pages for the Portuguese colonies where the individual colony name was used as the title page or interleave to introduce the postage stamps from the region,
I liked the idea and have incorporated the concept in my own pages,
Will run with the design scheme for the other twelve Portuguese colonies that issued the Ceres stamps...
Have fun and happy collecting!

i am looking for opinions. I put together my pages so that they are 'self-explanatory" meaning someone lookling at them would not need to consult (or even know wow/where) a catalogue to understand what they are looking at. and I know for some , I put too much information on my pages, but- if you were looking at the page below would it make sense? (and I understand one would need to spot what's different in each image) thanks in advance (and if you spot a typo, please don't be afraid to point it out (I have corrected the underlined 1/2 in the Type II)

If you don't mind me being a real snothead, ideally the numbers 1 through 10 are spelled out, so if there's room (which there might not be on that line), you could revise it to be "with two overprints". I'll see myself out the door now...

eggdog all comments are welcome! If you are referring to the "Type" numbering, I am simply following hte format of Yvert & Tellier, and Maurty and others. Storch & Brun use 1, 2, 3, 4 etc, instead of I, II,. III, IV etc., Cheers Stan

A very minor point, but I always think ½ looks better than 1/2. I use hold down ALT and then 0189 but this doesn't work with all programs. In which case I find one on the internet and copy and paste it.

Hi stainlessb It's the fourth day that I look at your page with YT#157 and the catalog (you know I only have YT) I couldn't find the catalog numbers under the stamps in my catalog, which look like this: So there are YT#157, YT#157a, YT#157b,.......YT#157f. The description was quite unclear until I saw: "Voir note au no. 107d" = gray, paper GC, type IB. I applied this observation to stamps where the color and type are not specified. I don't know if it's correct, but I'm trying to make a classification: YT#157 - normal paper (white), grey-black, type IA YT#157 a - normal paper, slate (ardoise), type II YT#157 b - GC paper, grey, type IB YT#157 c - upside down overprint, GC paper, grey, type IB (2400 Euro) YT#157 d - GC paper, gray, type IB (no value in the catalog?) YT#157 e - normal paper, gray-black, type IB YT#157 f - GC paper, gray-black, type IA On your page I see these small letters a, b, c, d, but they do not correspond to what is in the YT catalog.

Here is from Maury Ceres & Dallay 2009 the 'details' are shown back with 107 ( and there is a fair amount and somewhat confusing) There is a study Specialise France. Monographie des Timbres au Type Blanc by Storch, J. & R. Francon that i would like to access. I missed one on e-Bay and have found one in England, but shipping is more than the book! I just found a copy from the Netherlands with a lower overtall cost! From what I can piece together, the plate/dies used on the #107 issues are the same as used on the 157, so the "Type" definition would apply (and the issue dates of 157 seem to follow quite nicely that of 107) Why the same amount of nomencalture as is found on the 107 did not transfer/apply to the 157 i do not know (and would like to find out more about this,

Hi stainlessbNow I understand that the letters a,b,c....are from the Maury Ceres catalog. There are only two numbers 157 I and 157 II, each with the varieties a, b, c... My opinion is that the initial YT should disappear and possibly appear MC (Maury - Ceres), it would be more logical. I noticed that in Maury-Ceres at 157 there is no mention of the color of the stamps. (very confusing... in YT it appears grey-black, slate and possibly grey) Maury-Ceres like Yvert-Tellier notes only the beginning of the printed issue. If you look at MC 107, printed issues appear in 1911, 1914, 1916 and 1917, which can help you in identification (I know you collect canceled stamps) What remains unclear is the gray-black color that appears in YT and not at all in Maury-Ceres. Could it have been issued in 1919 and overprinted with 1/2 centime?

gstamps Spinks now holds the rights to Maury. Ceres & Dallay ( from their website ..." heir to the prestigious Maury, Ceres and Dallay catalogs,) I have the 2018 Spinks|Maury which covers 1840 - 1959. Spinks released a new issue back in March/2023 2022-2023, 124th Edition which I have not seen yet, and it does have 100+ more pages.../ but what that means I do not know (more info, larger fonts???) ANYONE with a copy??? It's offered for abit over $40 so I may copy to acquire a copy , but I have spent my allowance for the month LOL The 2018 issue's entry for #157 is almost identical to what I posted above , except the issue/withdrawn dates are no longer included (for any of the stamps), and there is an addition to 157 Im of an surcharge reverse´´on GC paper ( and having a MNH CV of 8000 € !!! No mention of color variants and of the stamps I have (which is not a large group) the Type I A or B seem one golor - grey and the Type II are slate (ardoise) it may be why no colors are listed.... or sometimes I wonder if the 107 details apply and they were just 'saving printing space'. I do collect used issues and cancellation dates can be usaeful, but in the case of the surcharged stamps that I have only a few that are used and unfortunately do not have a clear full date.

I have the 2017 (1103 pages) and 2022-23 versions (810 pages) (Spink-Maury). There are more info (for the 1571 1/2 sur 1c, type I and Type II) in the 2022-2023 catalog.....letters are so small that I do not think I am able to have a decent Scan . René

As it turns out I have the 2022-2023 catalog.... I thought the cover looked familiar . I now remember René and I ordered on the same day. (I definitely need to reorganize library) yes smaller print, and I see the issue and wihdraw (retrai)t dates are once again included. and it lists color as slate (ardoise) and no mention of grey (gris)... Here - scanned in 3 sections from Spinks|Maury 2022 - 2023

A page from a Berlin album created by forum member rednaxela (Alexander) I am posting it here as I really like his use of images. By converting to greyscale as well as making the images significantly smaller than the actual stamps they act as an identification aid without overwhelming any actual stamps that may be added to the page. Clive has kindly posted a page from one of my revised AlbumEasy texts here. I now attach another example myself: In revising the texts, I have also included supplementary notes for interested collectors in connection with some "difficult" issues. In the case of the official stamps of the German Democratic Republic, these are without doubt the coat-of-arms issues (hammer and compass in the ear wreath). Here is a sample page. Who is interested in my album texts and would like customize them: The revised and the completely new texts have already been created with the latest version of AlbumEasy (4.5) and can therefore also be customized only with this version (with older versions there are numerous error messages...).

Well, it took me three evenings, but I re-read this entire topic, all 34 pages, from the beginning. What a ride!
I thought I had been away from this thread for longer, but it was only a little over a year. I'm plotting and scheming a new 'Around the World' collection and you all and your designs continue to inspire me.
So glad to see some new posters and new page designs.
Feel like I have a kindred spirit in eggdog Blown away, again and again, by the depth that classicalstamps and stainlessb put into their pages. And then there's Jon ( blaamand ), with his Sweden pages that put mine to shame (not that I could bear sorting shades like he does!) Grateful to see clivel adding more and more new features to AlbumEasy.
Missing Pete more than ever.

Continuing with Poland, here's the Polish Consulate in Odessa. I love the stories here. Civil war mixed with scrupulous philatelic questions. Why was the most rare Polish stamp removed / demoted by major catalogs? (if you're curious, I recommend Stanley's Kronenberg's article in Polonus Bulletin no. 447 (May - June 1991).
