A series of 5 stamps, all with the same design and colour scheme, were issued in 1939 by 24 French colonies. There was also a high value airmail stamp, issued by 8 colonies. The complete set has quite a high catalogue value.Used sets are a little harder to find, especially postally used. The airmail stamp is also harder to find on cover.
A letter sent in April 1940 from Dahomey to Switzerland with the high value stamp from this set. This is the only cover I have found with postally used stamps from this series, apart from the airmail stamps.

Wow Bob, another awesome set of Omnibus issues in superb used. I know this set well, it's really hard to find used in this condition. Well done.
I find the engraving on this entire set of 6 to be exceptional. The large format allowed the engravers a bigger canvas than usual and they definitely took advantage. The crosshatching and detailing on the brickwork is top drawer. The colors of the full set is also excellent.
Considering that your examples are the Airmail portion of the set, all the more difficult to find used. Some of these countries had very limited air postal access as well. Yes, a very nice group.

Giving my albums their monthly inspection and decided to post a few more examples. This thread was started almost 5 years ago and has seen little activity. I am still looking for examples on letters but still very hard to find.A lot of the used examples have favour cancellations also. This series ignited my interest in the omnibus series of French Colonies and is still my favourite series of stamps.
Set from Reunion. This completes the series of scans for this omnibus issue.A total of 120 stamps from 24 colonies, plus 8 airmail issues which were also posted here. Complete sets of mint stamps are often found on Delcampe.I tried to find a used set but had no luck so it was a challenge to complete. All of these were purchased before the Covid crisis from individual sellers online or at stamp shows in the UK. Like most of the omnibus issues ,they were mostly aimed at collectors and were not usually found postally used.I still check weekly for examples on cover and have seen very few.I have yet to see a complete set of used stamps for sale.

Thank you for sharing this lovely set Bob (anglobob). I've been following the thread since the beginning. Excellent cancellations throughout. I'm envious. Rob
