I just finished checking my Cundinamarca stamps. A found a few fakes. I also found a genuine one among my duplicates for one of them... but my luck didn't repeat for another one Here are my finds. I based my decisions on the descriptions given on the book The Workshop, Vol II, by Dieter Bortfeld. Starting with with the first stamp. 5 Cents, 1870. The key to identify these forgeries are the scratches through the top of the stamps (specially visible on the three stars on the left and the 5 on the right.) Also, the seventh star above the condor should NOT touch the wing. The color seems to be another clue... but Mr. Bortfeld didn't mention it (that makes me wonder if my piece is just another forgery.) 10 Cents, 1870. The quality of the printing is the key here. The genuine one is clear and crisp while the forgery is not. This is clearly seen on the little circles and clover between CORRREOS and CUNDINAMARCA 5 Cents, 1886. Quality, again, is our friend. The genuines show beautiful details. In addition to that, the color of the forgeries are pale or dull blue: 5 Cents blue, 1886. 10 Cents, 1886. Same forgery as the previous one. Same clues. 20 Cents, 1886. I couldn't find a forgery of this one in my duplicates, but the clues are same as before. I'll leave my copy here for future reference. 50 Cents, 1886. I couldn't find a GENUINE of this one in my duplicates , but the clues are same as before. I'll leave my copy here for future reference. 1 Peso, 1886. I couldn't find a forgery of this one in my duplicates, but the clues are same as before. I'll leave my copy here for future reference. That's all for now...

Just a quick note: "The Workbook vol. I-III" by Dieter Bortfeldt is the authoritative books on Colombian forgeries. As such, the books are highly collectable.

classicalstamps Yeah, I was very lucky to grab a copy of Vol II! Let me know if you'd need better scan of the fakes up there for your excellent and useful website.

The scans above are excellent, thanks for asking I'm pleased that you find the site useful. Colombia is actually in need of a major revision. I'll add your images when I eventually get to it.
