Nice postcard !
The senders (Reidar) handwritting is quite hard to read unfortunately - starting by saying 'Dear friend. Now we've been lying here two days and leaves for Gand today..." - so most probably a sailor sending greetings to a friend at home?

I respect your translation of the bad writing in Norwegian blaamand but as Gand or Ghent is inland I think it could read GRANGEMOUTH (in Scotland) what do you think?

You might have right vikingeck I think the text is like this, line by line: I think the traslation will be something like this: Dear friend. Vi have been here for 2 days. Today we are leaving for Grangemouth and after that home again. You must say hello to all friends. Happy greatings, Reidar
Or like Google would do it
Not bad.

Torbjorn, tobben63 invites us to post early Belgian cards and letters so here is my first contribution : A bit sneaky because it is from France!! 1915 , Belgium is over run by the German Army outflanking the French Maginot line, so the government decamps to Le Havre in France for the rest of the war. They are allowed to use Belgian stamps on their mail and it is cancelled " LE HAVRE (SPECIAL)" This Registered letter is endorsed " de Goblet d'Alviella" Minister of state (A Belgian lawyer and Senator) to authorise the use of Belgian Stamps. What makes it even more interesting from the postal History viewpoint is the " MIXED FRANKING". Belgian stamps for the postage to Netherlands are allowed, but a French 25 Centimes is needed to pay the Registration fee!

Awesome cover vikingeck! Quite a lot of the covers around postmarked at St. Adresse (Where the Belgian Exile govt was located) are of a philatelic nature. I have a cover myself postmarked Le Havre Special, which is surely philatelic (and less interesting for postal history) Your cover seems to me not in that category, up for a trade ?? Hahaha

Here's a folded letter with a pair of number six. It's from 1852. Can anyone help with a value? Scott's Specialized (2006) states that a pair of ten cent brown on cover is $450.

New Belgian postcard received today - from my birth town! It's really nice to find a postcard of the town hall in Lier, with a stamp of the same building on, and a cancellation for a local festival (named after the same building) in 1969. And yes - the date on the clock tower of the town hall is indeed 1369 - so this is also a 600 year anniversary.
