I put this variety on another web site, but wanted you guys to see this VARIETY/FAKE Scott 929.
I got this stamp about a year ago and most (average) collectors think it is a fake.
I have a personal contact in Archives Canada and she sent me this reply.
We have reviewed the proof sheets for the 48 cent Cradle stamp in the Library and Archives Canada collection and did not come across any proofs showing a green background.
Below is the stamp i have....
Robert
It does seem as though there were some variations in the colour background as indicated in the 2017 Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps, although green wasn't one of the variations: "The 48c Cradle stamp exists with variations in the background colour (described as "pink" by the printers) that were previously thought to be "magenta" missing colour errors. Examination of the proof sheets in the Library and Archives Canada have conclusively determined that these are not missing colour errors but are some anomaly in the ink resulting in variations in the intensity of the inks used by the printer. These are shade varieties and are not a missing colour error" (pg 229).

Below (On the left) is the regular Magenta Scott 929 Cradle stamp as compared the the GREEN Scott 929 on the right...
Below is when i wanted to analyze the actual colour of the stamp with my software.
The next 4 pictures is a detailed analysis of corresponding lines at each stamp and it did line up exactly to verify it's authenticity.
Below is the measurement across the satmp..Seems 99% equal measurements.
CONCLUSION:
I had one of Canada's most massive stamp collectors for coffee one night..He looked at it in surprise and said, Robert, that is a $1000.00 stamp there.
It was said Beliski had a complete sheet of 50 stamps at one time..I have one stamp...Still not sure if it is real/fake...YOU DECIDE.
