Clayton and Sons was once the largest manufacturer of clothing in Canada. It was run by Mary E Clayton and her sons. At its peak it employed ove 500 people. I have found many NS covers addressed to this company so I did a bit of research to find out why. david went digging and found one i spent the first nine years in the little Village of Upper Musquodoboit. I suspect that as the largest clothing manufacturer in Canada, a great deal of product would have gone out to general stores or clothing retailers. Many of the covers I have seen on sites have return address or slogans from retailers. I suspect this would be for orders or for submitting payment. These are just my conclusion.

Posted from Hebron date not clear. Via Kentville Kings County NS. A clear “Kentville” mark on back with date Dec 12, 96 Hebron is in Yarmouth County just outside of the town of Yarmouth on the South Coast of Nova Scotia. It still exists as does Kentville. i am not exactly why I purchased this one. As I tend to buy if I have a tie to the area. David

WERT Very nice cover - thanks for showing - I remember, at 16, the 100th anniversary of our confederation and I should find a cover celebrating that - a memorable date for Canadians !! Canada did not issue anything on July 1, 1967 !! but this is close enough but not a "classic" cover (as we are in the classic thread )

Queen's Own Rifles of Canada
The house on the left is where it was mailed to in 1941, looks like it was torn down to make room for a semi-detached house.
