This set, to me, is a kind of Barometer of the Auction room, at Australian local auctions, This set is desired, and fluctuates madly, depending on the bidders. I see my 2009 Scott says $62, which is about right, I have seen this set go for $80 and as low as $28 I use the Australian "Fish and fruit" set of 1972 similarly., or the "wheat" issues.  |

Those tabs are most interesting why do they taper like that?? That's a British style, it seems - you often see margin blocks or margin singles with the selvedge cut on an angle with scissors. Just a nod to aesthetics, I would guess.  Ryan |

that's it Frog, most stamp exhibits would observe this regime on attached selvedge.
Tears look sloppy, and folding selvedge under is a no no, it adheres to the back and damages the perforation teeth.

Ryan I have a full sheet, soaked off cover, no text. I answered as an assumption, as it may have been printed on the stamp in fugitive ink. |

Printing.
I checked the Aust Post Bulletin, big fanfare about first stamps with printing "on the stamp" on the reverse.
No Mention of water soluble ink.
I either have an "inverted Jenny" that missed the printing, or it is water soluble.
to wit:
2001 will mark 100 years since the first
Australian wintered in the Antarctic and the
50th anniversary of the ANARE Club. This
issue commemorates Australia’s history in the
Antarctic over the last century.
In a first for Australian stamps, the sheet of
twenty stamps will be printed with descriptive
text on the back of each stamp. The design
flows into the selvedge. The time periods and
themes for the stamps in each row are printed
in the selvedge along the left edge of the sheet.
The title of the issue and the subject of the
stamp is printed on each stamp.
For proof, we need an TSF member, with a singleton stamp from the sheet, to see whether the print remains.
