This looks like a "reprint" of a die proof, by France Printers (Imprimerie des Timbres-Poste, France) of Sc 1841 - Maury 2239 - Yvert France 2233 - 3.30f stamp issued on September 18, 1982 - Natl. Fed. of Firemen, Cent. - bought by my late dad Dec. 1982. ($19.50US) I would appreciate your opinion on this finding. René

These are called in France "Épreuve de luxe", in English, luxury proofs. In principle, some exist for most modern stamps printed in France, whether French or for other postal administrations. I have several books of such proofs from former French African countries won at auction back when I was still a teenager and added to since then.

Xavier, any way this would have a catalog number (besides the stamp number) ? Merci - Thanks ! René

Yvert&Tellier usually has a section at the end entitled "Épreuves de Luxe" and lists the stamps for which they know of such proofs to exist. But the proofs themselves have no stand-alone catalog numbers. I just add an "EP" in front of the YT number in my personal listings. For the proof in question, I see in my Cérès (1996) catalog that it is listed with a CV of 250 Francs of the time, so about 40 Euros after conversion and rounding up for inflation. That catalog just has the "Épreuve de luxe" listing as part of each individual stamp listing, again with no special number attached.
