My latest page of my 1-frame Jaffa Oranges exhibit. Special thanks to Londonbus1 Michael for making the 50m JNF Baron Rothschild label available.
EDIT A valuable correction was received from Londonbus1 Michael, "The Montefiore label is not a JNF issue. It is an old Jewish Fund-raising/Charity label out of the UK but have no further info. But not JNF."
Thank you Michael. Better to find out here instead of when in the frames.

And a page from last week.
(With special thanks to Michael (Londonbus1) & wife for assistance in translation and historical references:)
Spent the morning enjoying the orange-pages as prepared by JeffS , and this particular page caught my eye when I could not see the difference between those with and without the values. It took me a moment, but eventually I saw the value tablets in the upper right-hand corner of each.
For all the pages I viewed; nice work and it was a pleasure to view! A question though, was it intentional to separate or mix-up the red value 'stamps' given the with/without values description?
Just curious...
Have fun and happy collecting!

stanley64 Hi Vince. Thank you for the kind comments. The switched red stamps was just a trick to see if anyone was really reading the pages Actually it was a trick to see if I could pay attention to what I was doing. FAIL!

jdtrue66 - thank you for the posting of the Paraguay stamp featuring a lady holding oranges. At first I didn.t notice the oranges... I've had a CTO set bookmarked for a couple of years, while waiting to come across a mint stamp or set. I may have to purchase the CTO and wait, and wait, and...

Received today for my Oranges Philately, an Algerian proof, commonly referred to in French philatelic circles as a deluxe proof. They are modest in price but certainly have the ability to draw attention to a page. Most collectors immediately recognize the orange oranges. More often overlooked is the yellow citron at lower left.

In my post of May 24 2022 I introduced Baron Rothschild . Today I received a lovely item, a booklet of 4 panes of 6 JNF Rotschild labels. These 4 labels are catalogued as Rochlin 286 - 289.
Here is the set of 4 labels plus one additional identified as number 1451, (image borrowed from the net) the latter not part of the booklet.
The cover of the booklet shows a pair of holes as if from a previous staple, hence removed, and apparently re-stapled.
Michael Londonbus1, if you have an example of this booklet, can you measure the length of the staple. Mine is 18 cm. The reason I ask is, if my staple is not the original I would like to remove it and separate the panes for display alongside the cover.
Also, does the complete booklet have a Rochlin number?

Hi Jeff ( JeffS), that's a nice booklet and I don't have one. I try to collect only singles as booklets ae very expensive usually. The 50pr stamp I sent you not so long ago is it not ? There are no specific Booklet numbers for this or indeed for most issues. This is because many JNF stamps are issued in booklets and often ONLY booklets so as I understand it there was no need for a separate listing. I will read some more in the evening just to be sure but there is no special number for this issue. I will check my booklets later because many have the same type of cover as the one you show and so may give you a clue as to whether to explode or not. More later Londonbus1

Londonbus1 thanks Michael. Yes that 50 pr item is the one you sent. When convenient, it will be helpful to know what the added caption at the bottom says. Jeff

JeffS.....first the staple. I believe it is the original and should not be removed as per your wishes/suggestion. I have a similar style booklet (there are many) with the same size staple (by the way, 18mm not cm ! ) and positioned similarly to yours. I would say it's the original and the reason for the other holes could be many. The 50pr stamp has the Hebrew year inscription, top left reading down, 5714 or 1953-54. In April 1954, the bodies of Baron Rothschild and his wife were brought from Marseille, France by the Israel Navy and re-buried at Ramat HaNadiv in Zichron Ya-akov in Israel. The inscription at the bottom simply says "with the raising of his bones", the stamp commemorating the event. They died in 1934 and 1935 and were interred at the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. The gardens at Ramat HaNadiv are a wonderful tribute to the Rothschild Family and are worth a visit. My wife and I were there quite recently to see improvements and additions from recent years. Simply beautiful. Londonbus1

Arrived yesterday:
Advertising cover for the HOTEL LINDSAY in Lindsay, California, 1921. The town once boasted that it was "The Home of the Early Orange".
The hotel incorporated that slogan along with an illustration of an orange in its hotel stationery.

I havent worked with hydrogen peroxide on stamps in a long (decades) time. Thought I would give it a go on the discoloration on the edges of the stamps:

I regret that I've been neglecting my "oranges," after all a day without an orange is like a day without sunshine. So here is my latest page devoted to the Cook Islands.

Alas I can't win them all. This rather doggy Citrograph cover in auction on eBay topped $100! I suspect it went to a Redllands historical collector as the Citrograph printing company is a Redlands historical entity.
