My first (in a long time) citrus "tax" stamp, and is it a good one! $9.00 tax on 360 boxes of fruit. A high face value and high catalog value as well.
Fresh color, full gum with a couple of tiny hinge remnants.

This strip of 5 Australian stamps depicting explorers from Rio de Janeiro who came to Australia shows in the 2nd stamp from the left, a grove of citrus, including oranges, which became the introduction of oranges to Australia.
The stamp to its right portrays a Rio market scene where British sailors are being introduced to oranges.

Turkish Cyprus recently released a set of stamps featuring fruit flowers. I couldn't pass up a set of sheets, as well as 4 singles. The unusual arrangement of the stamps at 90 degree placement is, well, unusual.

Received this cover from our friend Vanessa rainbowhugz with a trio of new Hong Kong oranges stamps. (also a mint pair). I had the choice of a pair with additional postage to make the correct rate, or a trio slightly overpaying. I chose the latter.
Thank you, Vanessa. I appreciate your kindness and have something in mind to send you in return.

I recently won this charity seal featuring Baron Rothchild who was instrumental in making Ottoman lands available to Jewish farmers in the 19th Century. Perhaps Michael Londonbus1 can provide details about this "stamp."

The top card, a first day card of a Swedish clove oranges stamp of 2014 arrived today. It will make a nice paring with the Norwegian booklet of a similar motif, beneath.

Sometimes a thematic collector desiring mint stamps has to "bite the bullet" when only one stamp from a set is wanted. Case in point, this set from Argentina which graphically portrays Argentine produce, Scott numbers 2786 - 2794. Used examples are common.

A very interesting and refreshing thematic collection, Jeff!
One reason I like StampWorld, is there is a large selection of individual stamps from sets. It is easy to list individual stamps and sets. Easy to find them too.
You probably already know this, or of a similar type website that also caters to individual stamps.

I sure know that feeling! I guess it is a common problem with topical collections. I sure have it with nudes. Even past the buying I am stuck with the question. Do I put them in as a set or break them up.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

To complete many British Commonwealth sets I find myself buying the whole set to get the one or two elusive high value ones I am missing.

Fruit and Veggies from Italy:
This colorful sheet of stamps includes a citrus orange, top row, 4th from left. I was surprised at the size of the sheet and stamps, the latter which measure 1-3/4 inches x 2-1/8 +/- " The stamps themselves are serpentine cut with an outer rouletting for wider separation. (is that clear?)
I often have to decide whether to keep such sheets intact or remove the one stamp. I think with this subject I will remove the stamp as the total width of the sheet exceeds my 8-1/2" wide pages.

Good Morning JeffS, I've run into this scenario many times with Commonwealth Sellers. They build in enormous unwarranted shipping charges as additional profit. Makes no economic sense by discouraging interest in the item with ridiculous shipping. My sympathy.

JeffS It gets complicated but if the domestic shipping is offered at regular letter rate you may want to see if a forum member in Australia would buy it for you and then forward it to you via regular letter mail. It is not just commonwealth countries that occasionally have over the top shipping REL1948. It is quite common with US sellers shipping outside the US. Before the pandemic I often had a friend in Buffalo buy items for me at the lower domestic rate. He and a friend often were back and forth between Toronto and Boston. eBay kind of encourages this problem with the shipping data entry.

I contacted the seller of this cover regarding his shipping price and received this verbatim reply:
"Well as this is dictated by US homeland security I thought you might have known why
Under your regulations normal airmail is not available for use by Australia Post as this item is classified as “goods”
But when people ask, I do send it by airmail at $5 but if rejected the item is refunded but not the postage. Let me know what you want to do
That is why there is a suggestion to email for a postage quote. It is all about the US and then you guffaw at us, seriously , some people are dopes"
