In today's mail...
An advertising post card from Seville featuring a promotional message for "Robertston's Golden Shred Marmalade" made from Seville (bitter) oranges.
Mailed 1912. The picture side is captioned " Costumbres Andaluces - Sevilla."
Now JeffS , as a Topical collector / exhibitor in the Open Philately category myself, that is a VERY NICE CARD! It has every thing going for it, an advert for orange marmalade, addressed to a grocer, from Seville where the oranges come from and an orange picker on the front

vikingeck - I appreciate your appreciating that card, yes it has a lot going for it. And being 1912, that is quite early for such. I have a few marmalade items which this will go nicely with.

I have not constructed any new pages for some time.
It seems that every time I think about it, a new item comes along so I delay awaiting its arrival.
Sometimes a month or so if buying off Delcampe.
So, here is today's effort for the lesser known, but oh so important, pomelo. Enjoy.

I'm taking the "display class exhibits" philosophy in liberal terms when adding material to my Oranges Philately collection - if it fits on a page and I find it interesting, then it's eligible.
Thus the addition of an embroidered patch of "Citrus Sam" the long-time mascot of the annual San Bernardino, California National Orange Show.

Today's page deals with Irrigation, a part of cultivation.
I have not yet decided how to organize such a section if at all. Lots of options. I get great satisfaction of tackling a thematic subject and searching out applicable stamps and other elements to tell a story.
That's what thematics is about - the story - not "here's all the orange stamps I have found."

New additions to my Oranges Philately collection:
Stamps for paying amusement or entertainment tax on ticketed venues. These are a worldwide collecting area not just limited to these from the Petah Tikva (diff spellings) community, now in Israel. The stamps feature an orange tree with fruit, a plough and green grass. Petah Tikva was an early cultivated agriculture area in Palestine, just east of Jaffa.
Try an eBay search on "entertainment tax" to see how prolific their use once was.

Here's a link to my 1-frame post card exhibit Romance Blossoms in the Orange Grove, a story of a girl who grows up in an orange grove environment. It was entered in the Greater Houston Stamp Show 1-frame "Orange" competition in 2019 where it received a Silver medal, but more importantly (to me) it was voted "Public Favorite."
The inspiration for this exhibit was the real photo card of a girl and an orange tree on the first page endorsed Geraldine on the back.
Each year the GHSS features a 1-frame "color" competition based upon a random drawing of a crayon.
Click on the thumbnail images for larger views.

Good one, Jeff. I had a chuckle or two over a few cards, and the spelling error (oops!)
CAPEX'22 will be a 100% one-frame exhibit.

I want to say first of all that I really like the exhibit, JeffS.... it's beautifully done! The spelling error that I saw is in the first frame: "bows" should be "boughs". Pronunciation is the same, of course, but the meaning is not. I don't know if Peter ( brightonpete) saw this, or something else.

I found something on the last page.
I don't think it is bows as in Bose though!

Very clever and great fun!
More of a grammatical error, on page 15, newlywed's honeymoon should be in the plural form newlyweds' honeymoon.

I don't think it is bows as in Bose though! And you are quite right, Peter, it isn't "bows as in Bose" at all. It's 'bough' as in the branch of a tree, which is not the same as 'bow', as in the bending motion when 'taking a bow', but sounds the same.
