(Transferred from another post searching for an answer:
Falkland Used from the UK
This is the second such item received from the past few years. Is the use of the Falkland adhesive from the UK just a fluke, allowed to pass unnoticed? Or is something else at work here.
This is a neat Penguin stamp franking, a WWF stamp too.

Great question, Jeff ( JeffS )! Although I am living in the UK, I have only been here a short while, and I am a US expatriate, so not that familiar with how the Royal Mail works in some aspects. Personally, I could imagine that it may be possible for certain Commonwealth stamps to be used as valid postage within the UK, but that is only speculation on my part. So, let's try a bit of tagging, and see if one of the more knowledgeable UK members can answer for you: vikingeck feebletodix tallanent cjoprey Londonbus1 anglobob These are names that spring to mind. Apologies if I have forgotten someone that I shouldn't have! Anyway, let's see if one of them will respond to your interesting question!

It's my understanding that if the territory, dominion or other British enclave has its own postal issuing service, then it is considered a separate entity and its own stamps must be used to send something from within its borders. For instance, from the Royal Mail page here: personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/98/~/help-sending-mail-to-the-channel-islands-and-isle-of-man- Stamps bought in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man can’t be used in the UK - UK postage stamps can’t be used to send items in or from the Channel Islands or Isle of Man So I think JeffS that your letter slipped through, as they spotted the Queen's head and missed the Falkland Islands label... Hope that helps, Chris.

I agree with cjoprey.....stamps from British colonies or enclaves or pieces of rock cannot be used in UK. However, given the state of Royal Mail these days,I am not surprised this letter beat the system.......
