Sweden 4sk banco issued 1st July 1855 Oh dear here I go again, being pedantically nit picking. This is actually Sweden #2 in the catalogues . Though it was issued on the same day, Facit Scandinavia gives the honour of Sweden No 1 to the similar but very scarce 3 Skilling Banco in Green ( priced at £4000 used I unfortunately don't have it !) |

A conundrum , which is DENMARK No 1? The 4RBS was issued first But appears in catalogues as #2 1st April 1854   and the 2 RBS a month later , 2 May 1854 gets catalogue Number 1 |

Another # 1 - right after my New Brunswick # 1 post Australia issues postage stamps for the Australian Antarctic Territory. The first issues came in 1957, and sporadically thereafter, settling into a pattern of an annual issue by the 1990s. All have been Antarctic-themed, and all are valid for postage in Australia and its territories, including Antarctica. This is # 1 or Scott # L1 - 1957  |

I love this thread idea. I actually knew someone at the Greifswald stamp club in Germany that specifically collected number one stamps. He had quite an extensive and impressive coverage.
