Forgery or just badly printed stamps? New Zealand KGV stamps. The first one/two look very suspect to me. Couldn't find anything on the Internet that lists forgeries of KGV stamps of New Zealand. Thoughts?

theamateurphilatelist , There would be no reason to forge such a common stamp , collectors would have no trouble getting the real item , and the production cost of printing fakes would not justify isues to defraud the post office. Genuine enough . There is a footnote in SG Catalogue that " Stamps from Booklet panes often have blurred heavy impressions"

Just found this King George V stamp which to me looks like a poorly executed postal forgery, I put a genuine one next to it for comparison

No it is perfectly genuine . We have had similar appear here in another thread as far as I can remember. There is a note in the Stanley Gibbons big red British Commonwealth to 1970 catalogue which mentions the very messy printing found on these issues . Shocking wear on the plates I believe .
A curiosity but not a forgery .

Yes indeed, Alex, we did have another similar example, and I could remember it, too. Oddly, it somehow got posted in a thread on the Cinderella board called Forgeries, Facsimiles, Reproductions & Blackprints, which made it a bit of a hide-and-seek challenge to find, but here it is: thestampforum.boards.net/post/85724/threadEdited Note to Admin ( Admin or Londonbus1 ): Many thanks for moving the original posts made by Manish ( theamateurphilatelist ) and Alex.
