This appears to be an airmail issue but the look and feel didn't match what I found in the catalogue ... any idea?

Thanks to both of you - I realized that my husband put these particular in the 'do not know' pile because he was waiting to check the watermark.

Just in from a collector in Turkey, via Delcampe. Riga to Geneva in late 1922, to the Petit-Lancy station. The sender left no room for stamps, a strangely common twist. Marked 40 centimes postage due, which the Swiss clerk didn't correct. Isn't it impressive how postage clerks got this right? And this isn't prominent currencies, not Francs to Pounds, but Lats to Swiss Francs? Someone in Riga had a conversion table or the daily business newspaper. I am always tickled by the Swiss postage dues of the era; the nicest Swiss stamps ever.
