I snagged this tag this afternoon with great delight:
The special nature which appeals to me that this is a pristine example of airmail parcel post. The postage rate is dependent on distance traveled and in this case from Fresno CA to Hartford CT, a distance exceeding 1800 miles. This puts it in the Zone 8 category, in the time period January 7,1963 to January 7 1968. Postage for the first pound weight was 88-cents, and an additional 80 cents for the next.
Total postage on this is $1.68 a perfect franking for a parcel over 1 pound, to 2 pounds. To date, my only airmail parcel post example with the 8c airmail.
