I thought maybe I had posted this, but I don't see it after scrolling through 5 tabs of my posts with Belgium in the title. Charity stamps for tuberculosis 10/12/1938. I'm guessing someone took to the post office to have hand canceled (?) the stamps are actual stamps attached to the sheet.

European dates are written. dd/ mm/ yy. So 10th December is correct. Hi Stan stainlessb , I was just able to check my catalogue this afternoon , 10th Dec 1938 was the First day of Issue . That suggests the buyer did not have to go to the PO and request such neat orderly handstamps , much too carefully placed for a busy postal clerk to do even as a favour. I would say they were pre-prepared by the Post Authorities in this format for sale on the issue date. I would expect that the cancelled item will be listed in this format in one of the specialised Belgian catalogues . Perhaps some other member can confirm? I only have an elderly Stanley Gibbons Europe catalogue.

I have COB 2019 and the only souvenir sheet I see listed with this series of stamps is
465A/495 Herdenkingsblad/Feuilet souvenir ( "Herdenkingblad /leaf and memory" is the translation Google gives), but no photo CV for cancelled 750 Euros (I find that hard to believe... i paid very little for it)
although it looks like they were available only until 10/1/39

I'm going to suggest, until proven wrong that sounds correct, "Feuillet" in French can translate as "leaf", or in English a "page" or "sheet of paper" . France has produced "FEUILLETS PHILATELIC SOUVENIR" for many years which consist of a cancelled new issue on a printed descriptive sheet, basically an elaborate album page. So I'd pursue this further and try to confirm that catalogue value you may have struck lucky

Upon further dissection of COB, i now think it is a listing with no # and value is 40 Euro... which makes more sense. The CV I mentioned in earlier post is associated with a sheet of 20 (I think)
I need to scan and enlarge things... the print is just too small!

Herdenkingsblad/Feuilet souvenir - the 1st part is Flemish and means "remembrance page", the 2nd is French and means "souvenir sheet". My 1999 copy of COB list a souvenir sheet at the bottom at 1200 Belgian Francs, which is about £27.00 in new money I think:

I thought it might be Flemish, (Google Translate apparently not fluent in that!). I haven't a single individual stamp, so there is something to keep an eye out for!

Stan (@ stainlessb ) - I had a couple of mint hinged and used spares, so this will be winging its way across the Atlantic as soon as I can get to a post office (probably Monday): Scott #B225 MH, #B227 MH, #B228 MH & U, #B229 MH

You are most welcome Stan ( stainlessb) - they've been posted now, and the post office clerk was kind enough to find some nice stamps to put on the envelope as well.
