What do you do with the thousands of remainder duplicates that no one requests? (Besides donations) Most of us end up with stockbooks FULL of the leftovers. So I decided to try and make lemonade out of all of those lemons. I chose a few areas to flyspeck and study cancels etc. Many of my trading friends had envelopes full of those ubiquitous two penny green Irish maps and similar issues, so Ireland became a good place to start. I now accept heavy duplication - hundreds of them - and it has been a lot of fun and I’ve learned an incredible amount of detail about Irish material. Specializing is enthralling! I added Bermuda later because I’m interested in finding certain cancels. Folks don’t have as many Bermuda, but even one or two is a treat. Along the way, I’ve made some wonderful trading friendships who really enjoyed this Swapperoo - it’s a relief to clear out unwanted material and get an envelope full of new surprises to sort through. So If you have any friends bemoaning their glut of leftovers, share my idea with them and feel free to share my name. Or better yet, try my idea! Flyspecking is addictive! If you pick an area to flyspeck or study (inexpensive common material only please) share that info here and some of us may be able to send you some. If I have anything from your area, I’d be happy to help. Happy stampin’! THE LIST SO FAR: Londonbus1 - the 1937 South Africa Coronation issue (KGVI) philatelia - Ireland & Bermuda anything except self adhesives (see my current trade offer) Philatarium - Japan especially (but not exclusively) definitives, particularly (but not exclusively) pre-WW2. renden - Canada classics

renden you are always soooooo generous! Do you flyspeck or study any common issues, Rene? Everyone, don’t be shy! If you have an inexpensive area that you study, flyspeck or accumulate, let your TSF pals know! I’ll compile a list. These duplicates need a home somewhere - best if they go to someone who will really enjoy them.

What I collect: Wonderland; 1912 Jubilee International Stamp Exhibition, London ('Ideal' Stamp, ephemera); French Cinderellas with an emphasis on Poster Stamps; Israel and Palestine Cinderellas ; Jewish National Fund Stamps, Labels and Tags; London 2010, A Festival of Stamps (anything); South Africa 1937 Coronation issue of KGVI, singles or bi-lingual pairs.

philatelia.......here's a surprise for some (I guess). Although I only collect Cinderellas these days I do still love reading and learning about the postage types !! I just love stamps, period. To that end I still have one tiny corner of this with the 1937 South Africa Coronation issue (KGVI). I have a chart of all the tiny flaws that you wouldn't find in a regular catalogue and have been accruing mint & Used copies for 'when I have time'. Bi-lingual pairs are good too !! My goal is to recreate a sheet of each value as far as is possible. So if anyone has any spare copies they don't need, put them aside and we'll make an exchange. Londonbus1

Hi Terri
A few years ago, before my friend passed away, I sent him any duplicates (on or off paper made no difference). He then distributed them to children at shows or clubs. The APS has a similar program/s and would appreciate having the duplicates for the same purpose. I am assuming a free donation.

Post # 1,000 woohoo! And this is to ask Rene - renden which years do you consider classic Canada - anything before 1940, or maybe pre QEII? You include provincials, too, oui?

Jerry B - you’re a generous gent! Yes! There are several charities that will gladly accept our donations. Last year I donated 50 pounds of on and off paper material to my local club to give away as door prizes for our biannual club shows. There is also the holocaust project. But this thread has a different goal and that is to try to help our friends here first who are interested in certain inexpensive stamps from countries, themes or issues.

Great idea, Theresa philatelia! For me: Japan, especially (but not exclusively) definitives, particularly (but not exclusively) pre-WW2. Mostly still in the accumulation phase at this point. Thank you!

I have had a similar idea, but one of the keypoint is the shipping cost compared to the "shipped" value...
Anyway, by my side: Poland since the beginning to the end...

philatelia - Theresa You had asked me about "classic" Canada I do not know a very specific answer as I collect up to 2000 at least - maybe post WWII ? René But the real classics are older than that I think

Can I throw in here, too? I look for the following:
Great Britain (Including Machins. I mainly look for colors and values) Canada (There's too much early/classic period from Canada or GB that I don't have that I don't mind digging through piles for what I need. France (Rene knows this...lol) USSR (Strictly those CCCP stamps. These are inexpensive and plentiful, right? Aren't they pretty much CTO's? I like 'em. Especially the space stamps.) I'd say U.S., too, but I think I'm getting to where I just need classics I can't afford and new issues. There's some random holes to fill, though.
There's plenty of other countries I have stamps from...classic and otherwise...that I don't collect and I'd be willing to trade in bulk. I don't collect anything from South America, Africa, Middle East, or Asia.

I doubt that it will come as a surprise to anyone, but the one area where I buy book after book full is Belgium - I have stock books with pages and pages of early Belgian stamps in duplicate that I need to sort through looking for those elusive variants...

JeffS , mikeclevenger . OMG! Noooooo! NO decoupage before letting someone flyspeck them! You might own the VERY rare tri-nippled Botticelli nude variety from Upper Lower Slobovia! Ohhh the humanity!

I am talking about using common US issue stamps. Of course, I would throw in a few #1 & #2 airmails and a few other old valuable stamps, maybe with flaws, just to make it interesting. I am going to cover the front of a 3' wide, 6' high cabinet that I keep my stamps in. She can't stop me from that at least!
Have a great day.

Hi
When my friend had the stamp store there was a special container. Any damaged stamp went into this container. A customer would buy the damaged stamps and use them to decorate jewelry. Unfortunately I never saw any of the jewelry creations but I heard that they were pretty nice.
