Fiji I believe were one of the first to use the Pietro stamp. May be wrong as not looked at Pietro for ages. Makes me realise I must write down more and not rely purely on my memory.

You have the Hong Kong stamps and the Stampex 1963. Will not show my Pietro signed one to avoid upsetting London Bus lol

I havent been around as much as attempting work again. Realised how much work I do which takes me away from doing what I love and spending time with my children and Queen hobby. I am trying to get a balance but work can overwhelm my time and health. I strive for perfection and it's not always possible. I might not be around as much but I will try and promise to post at least once a week some new pictures of stamps etc. Back to stamps. I found an interesting first day cover this week. I had never looked inside covers before and dont' know how common it is that pictures are found within them. I am not sure if anyone knows more information. I am now going to have to look through all my covers! A photo graph of the Queen in Concorde was found in this first day cover. I am thrilled as I have seen the picture whilst googling but never found a copy until now. You can buy the image from Ebay as a reprint but I tend to want originals rather than reproductions I would love to know of other covers containing photographs that they have found.

Whilst frantically searching my covers for more photographs this was a cover containing a map within the cover which I think is really great.

Remember when collecting that it can be the journey you go on and not the profit you make on items. This was shown quite prominently today to me. Kindness costs nothing and can bring so much reward.
As well as collecting the Queen I collect Guess How Much I Love You items. The book has special meanings both in its words and how much my children mean to me. They are my love tokens to my children and when I have them my grandchildren (hopefully not for a long time!)
Over the years I have bought first edition signed copies from someone who worked for Walker books years ago. He has quite a few and I have bought a couple of copies. A few months back a local girl who has suffered so much illness. She is 18 months and has Downs, Heart problems and was diagnosed with cancer in October. I decided that I would auction one of my cherished books to raise funds for her care as she is having treatment 3 hours from home. The book raised £400 for her and her family.
I then tried to buy another from the rep whilst off work. I explained what had happened and what I had done and that the books had gone up considerably in price. I didn't want him to think me greedy. Today, I arrived home and he sent a book to replace mine and another book for the little girl to keep.
I had arrived home from my first proper day back at work following severe depression in tears. One particular colleague who I had gone out my way to help has thrown away all my work from the last previous year which I had spent weeks and many hours working on (there are no copies as it is all paper records of the work I have achieved throughout the year). I was inconsolable as it felt the end of the world. When I opened the box when I got home, I realised that there is genuine kindness out there too. No matter how bad a day can seem, kindness goes so far in helping.
I am so grateful that i have my hobby and thankful as that one action was nearly the final straw for me but receiving that gift made me realise how much kindness there really can be.
What I am trying to say is enjoy your hobby, there are no guarantees anything will go up in price. Enjoy it for the pleasure it brings. I am so grateful for my hobby and that I am able to enjoy what I do and sometimes it can make a difference in the most unexpected way!

Very nice thread - it just justified the role of this Queen, history of the Monarchy, and decisions by members not to continue participating but I guess we have no control over the Press in Britain - the mighty $$$$$$$ or Pound
