This letter has been sent from Warsaw to Oppeln (Opole), in Slesia (Schlesien) throught Myslowitz. On the front, the red postmark WARSZAWA and the transit postmark AUS RUSSLAND. On the back, the postmark of the train post office MYSLOWITZ KANDRZYN. The postal rate should have been 3 sgr (10 kopeks) if prepaid, 5 sgr if not prepaid. The letter has been signed with a 3 (sgr), which has been deleted and replaced with a 5, which is the correct rate for non prepaid letters. Up to here, nothing special. But, what has to do with it the 35 kopeks stamp (1917, Mi 118) and the mute cancel in the top-right corner? Mute cancels were introduced at the beginning of the war. There are in a lot of different shapes. The Warsaw one for instance is made by concentric circles. In reality, it's a forgery where i fell in. A prephilatelic letter can be found on the market at low prices. Put in a stamp, even a very common one, better hinged, and a fake cancel and you'll get a more interesting letter with russian stamps used in Poland and why not, a mute cancel. Some postmarks used in the prephilatelic period were in use even after 1858, so the resulting letter does not appear so out of order. In this case, however, it's too much. What does a 1917 stamp do on a letter sent 60-70 years earlier? Which rate is 35 kopeks? What does a mute cancel do on a 1917 stamp, when in 1917 they were no longer in use? Mute cancels are interesting, but even not difficult to forge.

Yesterday i realized that when i've rearranged my google drive, i've destroyed all the links to the pictures... I'll fix them, but looking this letter make me think, wouldn't be better to remove the stamp and clear the cancel, at least to give back my letter the dignity of an original letter?
Just one problem. Does anyone know how to do?
