Hi all,
My name is Kevin, I have been sent to this forum multiple times recently by Google while doing image searches on particularly tricky to identify stamps.. So you've already helped me out several times!
I've lived most of my life in London, England. I started collecting when I was about 10 but have only been a sporadic collector over the last 40 years.... I've become reanamoured in the last year or two and this time I'm serious!
As a resident I obviously have a reasonable GB collection which I have decided to cap at the year 2000 (I'm not a big fan of big, gaudi, never ending commemoratives!) I'm originally from Ireland so would like to dive deeper into that. I also have a general world wide collection which I'm going to cap at about 1970 for the same reasons as above!
My newest challenge (during lockdown) is attempting the Smithsonian stamp for every country album... And I've been thoroughly enjoying that. Like many I'm sure, my collection is in disarray most of the time but I'm making a concerted effort to get it in shape!
So... Hello everyone.

Hi, Kevin ( wakeybluenose ), and welcome to TSF! Greetings from nearby.... I am over in Oxford, so a mere one-hour train journey from London, although I have not made that journey since February. Hope that you are keeping well there. Have you checked out the Saturday morning Charing Cross Collectors' Market? It's one of my favourite stamp-oriented things to do in London. Our Admin is located in North America, so it will be a few hours yet before he sees your intro and updates your status to enable you to post in other threads. See you around the Boards! Best Wishes, -Chris ( Beryllium Guy )

Welcome and nice to meet ya!
You fellas have this American gal puzzled and wondering what the heck are baggies and bluenoses? Facial descriptions IE - bags under the eyes and a blue nose from some altitude or something? Making me wonder and laugh! Too funny!

philatelia... These are names given to supporters of their local football team..Birmingham play in blue so that,s probably why supportera are called bluenoses. I support WBA who are known as the Baggies.No-one really knows the origin of this..some say it was because they used to wear really large shorts when they played. It was also the name of protective trousers worn by factory workers in the area.Maybe it is a British thing....all teams and fans have nicknames.Local rivals from Wolverhampton are known as Dingles........
