Hi from kingman AZ I’m John and love this newly addicting hobby. Can’t wait to catch you up in a chat about things I don’t know. I’m 29 home all day hav inherited a great treasure chest of a collection. I have put a about 15 hours a week into studying this hobby and come to be fond of it and that’s just scratching the surface really. i intend to sell so I have a lot of posts to make. I got a family to take care of my girls two little ones and 5 cats so doing this hobby is kinda difficult being a neat and clean hobby not like rockhounding or on a treasure hunt , my other hobby’s. And not like inventing new products to patten that’s my other hobby and playing video games lol any young gamers a fan of apex legends I’m down to play and learn stamp knowledge all day long lol. Well I’m off for now gotta know another stamp. Closer to a million I need to know and I’ve nearly reached a few lol maybe 100 well nice to meet you all and nice to be here. Any tips or hints not sure about this but here’s my email graphicbadger92@icloud.com any one like to identify ?hmu

Welcome John to TSF!
Lots to learn in the many many threads her, but a catalogue (or more) are invaluable. If the stamps you have inherited are non US or Great Britain, some of the better catalogues may be in French or German so you also get to learn another language too!
Also, take the catalogue values (CV) listed with a grain of salt- the CV's seldom reflect the real world-

Ya got everything it’s a collection my father in law collected with his wife her being a optimist and organized perfectionist that loved to collect stamps.him have grown up collecting since the 30s ya stamp collecting since the 30s. Grown up working in his moms saloon working there till he jot a job building tanks for the war. And finally worked for Anheuser-Busch ( bud wiser)for the 35 years as the legendary head engineer mechanic that flew round the world to all factory’s working 7 days a week for 35 years. He retired at 80 years old in 2012. As a couple of stamp collectors he was very very rich saving all his money multi millionaires and never had any obstacle obtaining a stamp of any caliber.well there Is not a stamp they couldn’t obtain, they knew not of the feeling that want that most people feel every day that only if they had that one stamp it would change their life or high ten the collection value. Well I have only known him and his daughter my girlfriend and Ed her father for five years as his wife passed 3 years before I had been welcomed in to this family.great man and r.i.p as in may this year he passed. And now he has been a sort of guide to me and it’s inspired me to learn this art. I’ve not a clue of what’s here but treasure hunter and learner by heart and will. That feeling that you call every other collection inherited Ecstatic poster new guy has claimed. I assure you this is a not in any way the same feeling they have. I also understand the feeling they share in all reality. By my feeling is not a feeling of yay what or why or how or maybe it’s ....mor of a feeling of last move on a high stakes chess game and my Queen is the winning blow of victory ten moves ahead inevitable and no questions in my whole body lol but is done and is already THAT collection indeed so it’s kinda just there, no butterfly’s or over joyed feeling just another treasure amongst the rest.prized but this one is a source of mass historical value able knowledge that expands past the threshold of the normal artifact limited to its self and knowledge and history that, soon ends while the one seeking more knowledge is halted at a end of the fun learning and un happy end to the chase of an item that is thrilling like treasure.so as you put it you are absolutely correct that in your reply I would state the same if asked or felt a need to reply. So I thank you for that and being my first post mate here in this treasure map of a site. I’m here to chase this thrill I feel is here like a red X on a pirates map lol hopefully everyone likes my style and we will gain intellect and grow bonds and befriend one another ..till next time

Also have quite a few catalogs just not sure of the lingo yet or general navigation style in them well I have a scanner here it said it’s optimal vs a iPhone that’s interesting I will tackle this quest to get them off my phone that is full of hundreds of photos and into my iPad for use here.the thought of more clear Photos is a must.

Thanks everyone I’m glad to be here and if you feel ok with letting me know a theme you have as a favorite or region that most of all is your most liked stamps it’s how I can mentally note who you are and profession is another or other hobby’s one per person please thank you also I have a Japan reagion collector already so please if you don’t mind it acts as a conversation starter as well.
if you like as well using your favorite or preferred stamp type I would like to make a not now but soon a post or individual message per person I get to meet to make a photo with a bit of a artistic view of stamps I have obtained in honor of the collecting those individual stamps or style to add common hobby accomplishments to start a friendship or members bond if anyone would like it’s off the top of my head so if it’s over the top or too much just say I am new to philately. Thanks

Thanks for your nice intro post, John ( graphicbadger92), and welcome to TSF! Kingman, Arizona, huh? I have visited there a couple of times.... nice town! When I joined TSF 4 years ago, I was living a bit south of you in the Prescott area. It was a very nice place to live. Now I am living overseas, currently in England. To post images, please be sure to contact Admin by PM to sign up for a TSF Image Host account, which is the most reliable way to post images on the Forum. Looking and wondering what’s all in my un searched section of my collection I have yet to get through it only half way so far. And more than a medium tote size of items to size it up left I know less than I thought and if it’s tooo out of ordinary to build or initiate a thought to a thread may you all agree that it if fine titled MYSTERIOUS ITEMS/unknown item surfaced / or something along those lines you all may and prob bible up that name to a worthy one but intended for random things you haven’t a clue that you even had or tucked so far back and forgotten that It would shock you to come across it or like me just got a bunch of mystery items Can’t help but to think of sharing the thrill with new friends that would be more excited then I am I’m more confused lol 😂 but it’s a question saver as well I mean a lot of them if it takes anyone can take the first step as my step might be a stumble to start a thread that new idk well I’m just thinking and reading your posts it’s really nice to learn this fast just by one web site.
everyone,

Thanks for your reply, John ( graphicbadger92 ). Best of luck with the storage business! Yes, I am a big Route 66 fan, which is one of the reasons that I found my way to Kingman in the first place. I am happy to say that I did not move overseas due to war (thankfully!), but as your later comment indicates, it was due to my job. I lost my job in the US in Jan-2017 that allowed me to live in the Prescott area, and I wasn't ready to retire just then, despite what an individual at my then-employer may have decided. As you have correctly guessed from my site name, I have a specialist, science-based profession, so when I went to find a new job, the offer I got was to work overseas. I moved to France in Mar-2018, and lived there for over a year and a half before getting another job offer that took me to England, where I am now. If I had gotten a job offer that would have allowed me to stay in the Prescott area, I would have stayed. My wife and I liked it there very much. Yes, our Admin's name is Steve. Do you know how to send a PM? John, so glad you have joined us, and I am looking forward to your future posts. All the Best, Chris

Yes I have done pm’d Steve is it me or should I be pming instead of posting a bunch of posts? I also noticed the quote a persons response is that a way to keep posts from getting mixed and spread from one another it’s very nice I might try it if so?
im sitting here waiting really excited to post my first post it has no knowledge to learn or info to add I know every ones just probably like what’s he thinking but more than even wanting to post I have a long desire to show one stamp that my common sense mind is giving me a cold shoulder or something it’s really not describable or none does it have any language or characters that in any way inform me of were to start looking it’s a mans facing rite profile in a circle with a frame around him with a sort of 5252525252 pattern in the frame if those numbers were to be touching. I can’t wait 😊 has a makers mark but I haven’t a clue what even one of those are that if asked I would reply to with a correct answer. For now anyways hope I got someone interested and curious. Till I get the ok 👌
