Hi everyone. I’m hs2oca from a few years ago. I dropped off the boards in general to negotiate a cross country move to Halifax area, Nova Scotia. It took two to three years to sell everything, including the house, cross the country, find a new house, and get settled in. Philately has not been left behind though. In the process of the move I was given one stamp collection and bartered part of another for a hooked wall hanging. I am a fibre artist by trade, using traditional rug hooking techniques in wool, silk, and nylon for my artwork, which hangs on the wall. I recently downloaded StampManage to get an idea of what’s in my stamp collection. A lot of my more specialized items don’t seem to appear in the database. I’m awaiting arrival of the user’s guide to figure out how to manually enter items. Today I spent starting to create a want list of classic Canadian used stamps. I am currently collecting used Canadian classic stamps (pre-1950) and post 2000 stamps. I also collect perfins and revenues. I also have a worldwide textile collection focusing on handmade textiles. Just for fun I also have a worldwide Christmas collection. I do have a collection of Canadian Colorano FDCs as well. Then there’s the Canadian inscription block collection. I collect primarily used stamps, but am interested in mint stamps for the textiles and Christmas collections as well. You can check out my original intro below: hs2oca Jun 8, 2015 14:28:58 GMT -4 hs2oca said: I'm Jean from Regina, SK. I collected stamps as a teenager and into university. Don't ask what happened to my student loan money, but I did eventually decide I needed to eat more than collect stamps! I let the hobby drop until my own children showed an interest. I introduced them to the hobby, but it didn't stick. So it was dropped again. Fast forward to the empty nest years. The girls have moved far away, and left half finished albums behind. Hubby and I were talking about downsizing and getting rid of our stuff. I pull out my 8 binders worth of stamps to sell, only to get hooked again! Only this time I have a focus. I am focusing on Canada used (Lighthouse I album pre-1977), Canada mint inscription blocks, and a topical worldwide mint textile (not costume) collection. I am a fiber artist in real life. So I am here looking in increase my knowledge of stamps, and to sell/trade some stamps. I am on a number of stamp boards across the Internet, and go by hs2oca on all of them. So if you 'see' me on one of them, send me a PM and say 'hi' and tell me where you "know" me from.

Hi, Jean ( hs2oca and polarbear), and welcome back to TSF! I joined in Nov-2016, and it looks like you took a break starting in Feb-2017. Would you like to keep your original site name and account? I think that's possible. I am a new to the Moderator Team in the last few months, so I will tag Steve, our Admin, and perhaps he can let us know what the best way to handle this should be. In general, I think it should be one account per member, so we will get a ruling from Steve, hopefully later today. In the meantime, welcome back to the hobby and the Forum! Kind Regards, -Chris ( Beryllium Guy)

Hi Everyone! Chris, I already had an email exchange with Steve. He couldn’t merge my accounts so asked me to make a new one and link to my original introduction. I couldn’t figure out how to link, so I copied and pasted it to my new introduction. In other replies... there has been a wonderful series of rugs hooked by Newfoundlanders based on their stamps. rhgnl.ca/2017/04/01/stamps-of-newfoundland/

As Jean has noted, I haven't been able to figure out if merging accounts is possible. This is the best workaround I have come up with: Considering the 105 posts made in her prior TSF life, polarbear has retained her full membership status.

Welcome back! I remember seeing pics of your artwork - folks she is amazing! I seem to remember fiber art that captured the big sky feel of the prairies. So cool!

Thanks everyone! Ii am putting the prairie sky theme behind me, now I’m in the Maritimes. But I do have some smaller pieces still in my possession. I decided to hang some in my home in a group of nine, as originally intended. Makes more impact. Individually they are 6” square.
One of the people whom I bartered artwork with for stamps was a lady we lived with for five months last winter/spring. She also allowed us use of her cottage twice this past summer for artist retreats and general relaxing. A very generous soul. It’s her stamps I’m sorting through now.
Thanks for maintaining my status Steve. I didn’t expect that at all! Philatelia, I remember you! And Patches, and the other women philatelists I met years ago. I wonder where everyone got to? Glad to reacquaint myself with you! I tried to buy some stamps from Luree on HipStamp, but got a message saying she doesn’t deliver to Canada. Maybe I didn’t order enough to make it worth her while? I’m waiting to update my albums. I have a lot to mount. Then I’ll send her a message and see what gives. I’m fine with stamps from within Canada too. 😂

Welcome back polarbear Have fun and hope you will find the time to catch up !!! Happy Collecting, Londonbus1 Reading through the Canada threads now! Certainly finding more to learn. I love that about here. I learn so much sometimes my head hurts! 😂 The Stamp Forum can at least point me in the right direction for research, if not give me outright answers.
