Hi everyone! This was in a collection of stamps and postal stationery given to me. Does it have any value, other than being a unique item I really enjoy looking at? It’s in pretty rough shape. I don’t collect postcards, and don’t know anything about them. If anyone could enlighten me as to this item I’d appreciate it. It says, in very fine print, that it is published by the Sisson Art Company of Cincinnati, USA. I’m guessing it was mailed in 1927 because that’s the date on the cinderella Christmas seal on the back.

As I do not collect I can offer little knowledge to you. There are collectors out there. I am sure if you do a Google search you will find informative sites. It will have a value to anyone who collects. How much will depend on varois factors...condition,rarity, subject, printing. Have a look on EBay to see what is selling. Hope this might help you out.

Thanks dgdecker ! Duh! Should have thought of ebay. I did a general google search and came up empty. I see ebay has over 3000 entries for antique postcards. My guess is it’s not worth much.

Good morning everyone. I have sold a lot of these type cards in the past and still several hundred. They usually sell for $1 - $5 each, depending on what is on them. This one, is the lower end, sorry. The stamps & postmarks are usually what helps with the price, but I don't know Canada stamps. The better the picture on the front, the more they sell for.
Have a great day & a Merry Christmas. Mike,.

I think $1 might be a little high! Thanks again, and Merry Christmas to you too!

I had a small clutch of 6 old Christmas cards which I managed to sell on eBay earlier this year.
a) they were Victorian 1880s 1890s b) they were in fine clean condition c);two had original envelopes
They made £8.00 for 6 nice really old cards .

Nice work and your posts are interesting !! René (New Brunswick, CANADA)

Hi Rene
I am wondering if the 1927 date is right...Gibson Lines Company became a company by Beverly Gibson in 1935. Ceased operations on April 30, 1968 after the sale of the Sacramento-Roseville route to the Sacramento Transit Authority.
Robert
But the Scott 141 was released in 1927..Strange....Just saying.

Ummmm....and the plot thickens! That’s very interesting @wert. Do you think someone would use an old stamp on it? Maybe a stamp collector like me?! If I had a basically worthless stamp I might use it.
I have a question: when was the postal rate 1 cent to mail a post card? That might help narrow down the date.

The card was mailed in 1927. You can see the 27 right above the word "side". Here is a Gibson Lines card from 1921:

Thanks mikeclevenger . I wasn’t sure how the cancels were set up back then. Didn’t know if that was the day of the month or the year!
