Good afternoon. A yellow 5 öre stamp (numerical type - circular) recently came into my hands. I had never seen any. I only have green ones in mind. It has a Danish cancellation. Do you know anything about it? I attach also a photo. Many thanks. Mauro

Since this was only printed in shades of green and only the 24 ore was yellow ,it is improbable that this was a substituted cliche like the tre skilling banco of the previous issue.
Green ink is produced by mixing yellow and blue in different degrees which explains the range of shades . Some ink colours are notorious for fading in strong sunlight , some ink colours can be changed by sulphur gases in the atmosphere from gas lighting and coal fires.
I therefore suspect the blue colour has been faded or chemically altered producing an interesting colour changeling .
The cancel is of course Danish , an arrival mark on mail arriving direct from one of the ferry postal routes probably Malmö into Kobenhavn Fra Sverige

Thanks for your reply.
What value can it have in your opinion?

Well as a colour changeling is basically a damaged stamp ,with poor centering. The Fra Sverige , if complete with the town code letter M, H, L or Y would have been more valuable than a basic stamp !
the normal green shades have a Facit catalogue value of only 10 kr .......and a market price of just a few ore, cents or pence
I personally would not rate it any higher, If mine I would keep it with the wide range of green shades as a curiosity since it is interesting and quite pretty .

A real Fem öre yellow would be a marvel. Sadly, it doesn't happen, unless you are philatelia ; she really did find a lightening strike with a contemporary.
To be certain, send it for authentication to Helena Obermüller Wilén. There is no one better. A cheaper alternative is Per Bunnstad at the Sveriges Filatelist-Förbund (SFF); info@sff.nu He's sharp. If he doesn't know, he will know where to turn.
Keep everyone informed.

Personally, if it was mine, I'd keep it as a curiosity, but I wouldn't pay any significant amount of money to have it expertized. Granted, that's because I'd be pretty certain I knew what I had. There is a ready explanation for it, and no ready explanation for an alternative.
