Hello,
New to the board, I have been collecting 50+ years, from a collection that has been passed down to me from my grandfather, and his before. looking forward to searching out information, and to find answers to questions that need to be asked.
Thanks again, Ray

A big welcome to our newest member from Ohio from a Michigan gal. No hard feelings from this GO BLUE gal to a Buckeye! A fun history lesson for those of you not from the midwest. Did you know that the college football rivalry between Ohio State and the University of Michigan is based on a historical event? Michigan and Ohio actually fought a war over where the border should be placed. True story! I sometimes joke that the war should be fought again and that the loser should get Detroit - haha! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toledo_War

Welcome, ohiohawk ...and Go Bucks! Good God. Is there no limit to such stuff? I knew other wars of American settlement like Johnson County Wyoming, on Chinese migrants nearby, savagery against American Indians (I've worked with a Northern California tribe, the Coast Miwoks. Not the worst, but still amazing when you see the details), racial lynching and labor violence.
But the Toledo War opens a whole chapter I never would have guessed. The key to 6 January? Somebody commemorate some real adults just to cheer me up. philatelia Terri!

Oopsie - used the wrong descriptors there - it really wasn't a "fun" thing - just an not often heard about bit of history. Apologies if this was upsetting to anyone. kasvik , apologies to you, especially.

Wait, I’m confused. How was talking about the Toledo War upsetting? If we misspoke, I apologize, but I’m unsure of what we did wrong. Or am I misunderstanding the conversation?

Welcome!
I love the story of Cincinnatus, the Roman general that was begged twice to become Dictator, and then he relinquished power peacefully and with no regret.
