On Sunday sitting at my stamp desk sorting newer Swedish stamps into my duplicate stock book an idea came to me. Shal I sell my Swedish collection? The collection spans from 1855-2001, I have 2432 different stamps/items in it. I miss ca 128 stamps in that period and only 20stamps in the 1855-1971 period. My collection sits in three preprinted Leuchtturm (Lighthouse) album with clear mounts. My guess is that I will get between $350-750 for the collection? So, why will or do I even consider to do this? There are several reasons. For me the hunt for stamps to my collection is the main focus. I newer repeat newer open my albums just to look at the stamps. The Leuchtturm albums are good, but I would like to have them more specialized. So my plan is to restart a Swedish collection on DIY pages very detailed. And stop somewhere between 1930-45. I already have duplicates enough to fill a second rather good Swedish collection (2456 different stamps but that is up to present date). The best items from my present collection will be replaced with lesser good items from my duplicate stock. So what do you my fellow friends and stamp nerds think of this Idea? Illustration of my albums. And for the record, I'm thinking of doing the same with my Danish and Finnish collection!!!!

It's a great idea!
I've been through a similar thought process, and I am now in the process of making DYI pages (as people can see from my posts in the DYI pages thread).
Why have albums sitting on the shelf if you're not looking through them? Your specialised custom pages can bring good fun for a decade or more, you decide how much you want to include :-)

Why not keep your good collection as the base upon which to build the specialized collection. Seems odd to me to sell the best quality items now then "rebuild Rome" to create a more specialized Sweden collection from scratch. Make new album pages to include the more specialized varieties, then move the stamps you have in the lighthouse albums to the new pages, then move to fill the gaps remaining for the specialized material.

WOW tobben63 that's wild! But understandable. The albums can be limiting to me - it sounds like you want to go beyond the one of each approach and start something new. But, hey, if you want to sell the duplicates - I'd be interested, but not in the albums. I'm missing a LOT of modern Sweden, especially the booklet positions and issues from the last 20 years or so. Send me a message here if you're seriously thinking of selling.

I cant print new pages in the same format as my Lighthouse album. So printing pages in a different format would look 'messy'. 2. I will keep the best issues and replace them with ok issues from my duplicates before selling. 3. The more I do 'stamping' I feel that stamps after 1950-60 is boring.

Send me a message here if you're seriously thinking of selling. I can always sell or exchange duplicates. All duplicates can be seen on Colnect that you are familiar with. Just make a list of what you need and make me an offer, exchange or bay.
